warning: LONG READ

:ehh: I actually appreciated it the second time around. I don't know why the movie is better when I watched it at home on my tablet, than it was in the actual theater

maybe it's that Marvel hype

Marvel got the game on lock so tight, that we've been conditioned to only expect piff from them and to hate on everybody else

But BvS definitely held its own. It's a really good movie. Ben Affleck suprisingly gave one of the best Batman performances ever

Even better than (dare I say) :picard: Christian Bale

Batfleck was closer to the Batman of the animated series and the comic books

Batman flipping around doing insane stuff to ppl cause he's, well, Batman

I still think Cavillo's superman leaves a lot to be desired. I think they went too dark and gritty with him. He should have been the boy scout that he is in the comics

But even with that, Cavillman and Batfleck bounced off each other pretty well

The way the tension was built up. batfleck watching Superman destroy metropolis two years ago, cavillman looking at the Batfleck's vigilantism and batbranding and getting irritated by it

They built up to the fight pretty well. Even with Lex in the background pulling strings and manipulating them the whole time

I gotta admit.... I remember the argument in the Civil War thread where ppl were asking how Zemo was able to realistically manipulate them to the point of the fight coming down between Iron Man and Cap and Bucky... and I gotta agree, that was unrealistic

But the way Lex manipulated Batfleck and Cavillman was believable. He already knew that bruce wayne was Batman and he knew that Clark Kent was Superman. He got them both in the same room, came over to make sure they knew who the other one was, and then let it build from there

He knew Batman was there to spy on him and try to find out what was happening, and so he left the trail of bread crumbs and he knew that it would catch Superman's attention

Then the carefully placed letters to Superman, blowing up the capitol building, putting the russian in prison with the batbrand and paying a hitman to take him out.... he knew it was gonna eventually build the hatred

And so all he had to do was sit back and wait... but he didn't even do that. He kidnapped Lois, knowing that Superman (being the simp that he is) listens to her heartbeat at ALL times and he knew that if he dropped her off a building, Superman would be there to save her.

Then he dropped the bombshell about holding his mom captive ("Martha, MAAARTHAAA) and he knew that would keep Cavillman from killing him. And he held it over his head as leverage to get the two of them to fight

He knew they would eventually take each other out. In fact, the only thing that saved superman from being a bloody cape floating in the water was the fact that he screamed out Martha

and looking at the movie a second time, even that part wasn't as bad as I thought it was at first

I think it's a really good movie. In fact, Marvel could take some lessons and make their films just a LITTLE darker, not too much... but just a LITTLE bit.

I think DC needs to lighten up a little bit, and Marvel needs to darken their tone a little bit

But either way, I think both of them have something special. And I can only hope the war between them gets even more ruthless, cause the more they try to outdo the other one, the more we comic book movie fans win

The movie is fukking terrible. One of the worst plots I can remember.

BUT

That 3rd act is dope af and the action is better than anything Marvel has put out. I can watch that third act over and over starting with batman taking on those goons through the doomsday fight, then turn it off before that boring as ending... everything before that third act is grade A terrible though.

blame the DC comic creators for giving the mothers of their two most popular characters the same name

I too used to think that part of the movie was stupid, but now I think it was an original fresh look at the characters

I watched batman TAS and Superman all the time growing up, and I never realized that their moms had the same name

but it was a fresh look at it, and a legit way of ending the conflict :yeshrug:

Pretty much everything. Lex plan is absolutely ludicrous. Setting up superman for the killings in africa, dumb. the Senate hearing was so fukking dumb, could've been a great scene.

I can go on and on but I don't have the time but the script was absolutely terrible.

If there is an even 1% chance he is our enemy . . . . blah blah blah blah flew out the window once he found out both their Mom's had the same oh so common name of Martha. :mjlol:
And Lex creates Doomsday to kill all the heroes but has 0 contingency plans if his plan actually worked. :mjlol:

Superman never uses his X Ray vision and stews while hundreds burn to death because he was all in his feelings and not looking for any threats. :mjlol:

Bruce Wayne's man in charge at the Wayne Enterprises building asks if he should leave while aliens tear down Metropolis. :mjlol:

No one knows who Superman is until you know they HAVE TO and then everyone knows and they always knew deep down. :mjlol:

Superman gives a speech to Lois before a final fight about dying KNOWING Doomsday is going to kill him and he wasn't going to try to survive. Isn't that called suicide?! :mjlol:

The movie tried to be deep but just came off really dumb.

The Truth
It really was a good movie.. Couldve been better with less killing from the heroes, length, and overacting from Lex but everything else was straight, especially the fight scenes

I think they tried to hard with the script/fight buildup too

Extended version is much better as well

Still have faith in Zach but he's a better director with a stronger writer on his team. Goyer cooks up blockbuster filth.

No one would say their mother's name in that situation. Then it was like Step Brothers, becoming best friends when he was about to stab you through the chest with a spear. Movie was basura:francis:

Did like the Evil Superman and Batman saving Martha parts, but that's it.
