so in your head, microsoft was going to put out games for what, 40 dollars? while ps4 stuck with 60 bucks?

lets use common sense. if you've already got people on the 60 pricing model for digital downloads. what is your incentive to cut your profits and lower prices? why would a company do that to themselves?

Console makers do not set prices. If publishers knew they would be making profit off of EVERY game sold then they would be able to pursue other pricing models.

I still think publishers will give a discount to all digital games over physical just like its happening on the Vita

publishers are making profit off every game sold, they just want to cut into the used game market -- something that's been around for the last 30 yrs of gaming.

then this is where they are fukking up, not the consumer.

should be 60 retail for physical media and 40 dollars for digital downloads.

There isn't a 20 dollar markup at retail for games though it is sizable. I can understand wanting to keep some of it, but $49.99 is the sweet spot. However, if Microsoft had a system like Steam where you can buy Steam codes from other places, it would work. However, they wanted to keep everything to themselves and horde the money.

50 is not the sweet spot if they want to move units. i think about all the shytty games i bought during the first 2-3 yrs of this console cycle, such a waste of money. these publishers want to do away with selling used games because they put out a lot of crap. 39.99 for digital downloads is the sweet spot to me.

You really have a misinformed view of how the industry works. No publishers don't make profit off of every game sold. They have to sale thousands, sometimes millions of games before a game turns a profit. If a lot of the money from those games goes to GameStop then there is no profit. Everything gamers complain about in regards to the games industry, stems from devs trying to recoup some of that money.

The biggest thing is that retail isn't going to allow them to sell 49.99 online and 59.99 at retail, though that is exactly what needed to be done. You can't do 50% digital, it has to be all or nothing to do it right.
Its already happening on the vita

I don't agree with your angle either btw.

Its up to the business to make it a way in where they can profit. That is not the consumers job in any way. Learn a better way to do business...you never sacrifice consumer satisfaction. Microsoft KNEW this would be the case and STILL went forward.

How Ballmer and Mattrick are still holding those high positions is baffling at this point. Mistake after mistake

Devs have been trying different methods for year. And EVERYTHING they try gamers just rage about it.

Microsoft's Xbox One Eighty

A good read if you missed it

Do you have any suggestions?
Start with communicating your message better and take examples from the leader in the market you are trying to enter instead of disrespecting customers. Microsoft failed with their initial vision already. The only do over is in the next console generation...which might not even happen. Years of work on a platform were all undone because of stupidity at the top.

Professors at universities should start incorporating this lesson into classes...its one of the most disastrous product announcements in recent history.

:why:Damn your stanning never quits. Once again do you want to have a conversation or do you just want to continue bashing Microsoft?

This is about the industry as a whole. Used game sales don't hurt Microsoft and the drm wouldn't have directly made them any profit. We are talking about devs/publishers here.

I bash everyone that deserves to get shyt on. Microsoft and Publishers are using cop-outs just like the music industry did in the napster/kazaa days.

Learn a better way to do business. Don't blame the fukking consumer especially when something has been going on for DECADES already and they have been able to get FAT making money.
