I dont even remember what it was...basically said they were hipster lames? :heh: Im sure

Pretty much. It was funny because he basically quoted Walt verbatim when he said he was just generally shocked that they exploded like they did. They just never gave off the vibe that they would breakout like that. They were just always fukked up, blowing lines. Even the guys were surprised how they took off I guess. Sounded like he liked hanging with them tho

I like em :yeshrug:

For the record, I like Andrew a lot and am very happy for his success. I still view them as a novelty band that cashed in on connections and undue hype. It's funny how life works in so many fields - there were people so much more talented than Andrew in his circle, but somehow it was the dudes who dressed up like trees and danced around on the hill while their friends tripped on acid who became rich and famous. shyt, Andrew was desperately trying to get into this other band, just to be an underling, but the lead cat kept telling him to kick rocks. That dude - who was definitely more talented and creative than Andrew - never quite broke through, although he did ghost producing for some huge acts (including drake) and is now collabing with Bon Iver on a project.

your basic taste lost. mgmt is a novelty band, and a pathetically packaged product for f@ggots. and on top of that, I know those two lame, dorky, sh1t-out-of-the-hipster-movement's-ass doofuses personally. Andrew's gay ass used to chill at my crib. They were a joke, two pothead's mimicking prince among several other bands. Straight bubblegum reinterpretation of good sh1t, which is, sadly, a healthy bulk of "indie" music. and much like mgmt - two privileged liberal arts clowns with connections and indiscernible talent, who were pitched as a "brooklyn duo" even though neither is from anywhere near new york - most of this indie crap appeals to the pseudo-subversive in America who think they have their finger on the pulse of the cool and avant garde when really they're rocking out to complete trash like "electric feel" which isn't actually too different from a gay ass avril levigne song.

great rebuttal you gay ass cornball not from Brooklyn. The music is cheap bubblegum replication, and worthless novelty crap. And the people who argue its merits are, generally, b1tch ass dudes. I'll piss in your thread like I'd piss in your face if you played gay ass mgmt in my presence. Does it make you cool to discern that I think I'm cool because I know what isn't cool? Clarify the cool rules, young, hip music sage. Regale me with tales of corny mgmt songs and gay ass dream albums

I was in the tail end of college when they blew up and they definitely had good timing. It was on the precept of the EDM scene taking over and MDMA becoming a casual drug, and they just had the right sound for the generation that ended up being heavy into EDM. Not that I would classify them as EDM, but as far as the alternative/indie rock scene, they had the closest sound too it. It just fit perfectly for the sounds that were to come. To borrow your wording, a more novelty/accessible LCD Soundsystem sound to them. All their fans quickly jumped into the EDM scene and I think their sound has now probably grown stale.

My friend got the chance to hang with them a decent deal, and said good things about them too. He generally seemed to like them, but everyone seemed rather shocked how they popped. Like I said, very good timing. If Occular Spectacular came out 5 years prior, I don't think they blow up.

talib and questlove are by far the most loserish lame nikkas in rap I've ever hung around. It made me queasy conversing with them.
doesn't questlove have aspergers or something?
