Both those phones are too big. As for why I bought the regular 6. I moved from droid in the early htc days and have been happy since. I could go out n grab a new droid phone but the truth is, why? What drove me away in the first place was the poor battery and touch screen lag. From the what I understand those issues have been resolved for some handsets so maybe I'm just sticking to what's comfortable for me.
Is it far fetched to conclude that maybe there are folks out there that don't want to use android OS and its surrounding components regardless of specs? I remember when the iPhone 5s came out and spanked the competition benchmark wise, but u didn't see droid guys switching. Why? Because they didn't want to use IOS and the tools that come with it.
Its not really that big of a deal.
