Galaxy S3 has Android 4.4.4 KitKat which is the latest version. Phone came out in 2012 meaning it got upgrades through it's 2 year life cycle.
LG Optimus G has KitKat
Droid Razr HD has KitKat
Nexus 4 has KitKat

2 years is a terrible support for phones. This is why iPhones have much better resell value

2 years is what it takes for you to get an upgrade on major cellphone providers. that's all they should support phones for. In 2 years the tech generally advances enough that you'd upgrade to a better phone with better battery life and more features.2 years is a terrible support for phones. The iPhone 4s might get 8.0 but it lacks the hardware features and processing power to run it like an iPhone 6 runs it. It gets a gimped version of 8.0 not the full deal.
I don't think I've ever kept an active cell phone for 2 years. Unless you're thrifty as hell or broke you probably aren't still rocking an iPhone 4s and IPhones keep their value because the off contract purchase prices are excessively high.

You said they don't get support for years. I said they do. You said no and I gave you examples of phones that are years old (as in more than one year) and are still getting support. you thin move the goal post and say 2 years isn't enough time when the original point was they get support for years.

Who want something that works and can get the latest apps
Not everyone is going to want to get a new phone and lock themselves in contracts every 2 years(Or pay outright for a new phone)

It's great to know you can get Apply Pay on your 3 year old iPhone that doesn't have an NFC chip to support the feature and all that TouchID stuff and get applications designed for phones that are likely twice as fast as what you're 3 year old phone is.
