So nah.
But that's typical Coli: if it's hard and bucks convention, the rhythmless introverts of The Booth think it's trash.Oh it was a banger but I always thought it was wack.
To me, it sounded like a cheap imitation of Timbaland
The same way that "Put It Down" Timbaland beat was that Redman spit over.
And of course it would get more of a positive reaction than Justify My Thug.
Justify My Thug wasn't a single type of a song by any means.
Dirt Off Your Shoulders was made to be a single.
U know a single (whether it's good or bad) when u hear it.
But I agree w/ you on it being a standout.
But a lot of stuff can be standout and still sound and or be corny. Least in my opinion.
See, I like Justify My Thug for 2 reasons
1. The beat just sounds some Giorgio Moroder Scarface shyt. shyt sounds like a score. Then the samples Funkadelic The Witch and Run DMC and the scratches!
2. Jay is spitting; it's 1 of few moments on The Black Album he really gets in his pocket and just *blacks* out on a beat.
Quik did his thing and showed his ass on this beat, man.
Justify My Thug is 1 of them beats that u appreciate even more when u listen to it on some nice speakers and or headphones too.
It really is on some Scarface shyt.
It's the perfect way to bring back the beat. Takes the song to a whole other level.Justify My Thug is hands down the best beat Quik ever made. And it is definitely a standout on The Black Album. Not top 3 but top 5.
Are y'all deaf? How is this a bad beat? It's straight up the hardest beat Quik ever made. shyt like this is why Jay-Z is where he is. He'll take a weak producer like Quik and take his absolute best ever beat then rap on it. shyt is stupid hard and creative.
Y'all were expecting your typical malt-liquor background musicBut that's typical Coli: if it's hard and bucks convention, the rhythmless introverts of The Booth think it's trash.

I never even noticed that and I totally agree. It really is on some Scarface shyt.
Then again, we have Coli members that think Scarface is trash yet I'm supposed to believe they're hip hop fans
And the scratches are fukkin genius. I'm not sure what the DJ term is for the effect at the end of the loop that basically leads into the beginning of the loop. A vinyl spin?!It's the perfect way to bring back the beat. Takes the song to a whole other level.
i agree that the amount of hate that this beat gets is ridiculous but idk if i can call it his hardest beat. i assume that you aint really a fan of Quik based on the "weak producer" jab so I won't bring up his work to counter since a lot of his shyt does sound way different from Justify My Thug, but imo Heartz of Men is a way harder beat. shyt blew me away when i first listened to it and it was way different from Quik's usual work to me too just like JMT.
Yeah, Quik even referenced Giorgio Moroder in this interview where he was talking about working w/ Jay and doing the song
The scratches are perfect.
If only Madonna would've actually came through and did the feature
The stand-by singer they got to sing on it worked tho.
Oh yeah and Scarface the movie is a bad a movie.
Oliver Stone wrote some great dialogue for it, but the movie is shytty.
It's like a bad B movie.
