He's from my state - I know that. Still doesn't change the fact that he voted to impeach Trump and the party basically disowned him.

There's still a good chance he draws votes away from Biden the same way that a lot of people on the left protest voted for Gary Johnson in 2016.
he can spoil it for Trump in Western Michigan

If Biden is that strong enough of a candidate, he'll be fine :unimpressed:

Stop bytching about other candidates providing other options for voters. Biden was chosen. Then push on him to make sure he's the most electable option for voters come election day :unimpressed:

Obama in 2008 and 2012 had to run against 3rd party candidates too, yet he blew all competition out the frame :unimpressed:

If you shook that Stein or Johnson or Amash may take votes away from Biden then maybe he ain't all that and y'all chose wrong but we not gonna get into that. He was chosen by the base because of his electability right? Well we about to see if that true :unimpressed:

:rudy: I don't even care for Biden like that but this would be an issue regardless of if it was Bernie or whoever else

This ain't about Bernie. And if Bernie won the nomination and people were shook at Amash running against him then I'd make the same post.

The OP mentioned the news directly from the perspective of this having the potential to hurt Biden's chances.

My point is that if this is an issue, it's an issue because you don't have confidence in Biden's electability. Again I don't recall anyone bytching about 3rd party candidates in 2012. Because Obama was that good. If Biden is a strong candidate his margin of victory will be great enough to overcome the sliver of votes that go to 3rd party candidates.

I think he wants to get on the debate stage and be a visible anti-trump republican.

He also has a chance as you said to play spoiler in a pivotal swing state.

No reason to believe any voter who was going to vote for Biden to get Trump out of office is going to now vote for Amash.

i don't think he is going to "steal" votes from trump or biden. anyone voting for them either likes the candidate too much to be swayed or is already voting strategically to prevent the other from becoming president anyway.

he could steal votes from the candidate the libertarian party officially nominates but who gives a shyt.

now he might impact down-ballot races. for example a never trump republican who otherwise wouldnt vote might vote amash and fill out the rest of his ballot republican. but i dont think he'll have a big impact.
