I don't understand the comment, the writer wasn't saying that they should get a spot in the Olympics just becuz they worked hard. He's saying that Gatlin shouldn't disrespect them with sexist comments becuz they worked hard...which is true.

I'll reserve my opinion but a quick set of questions....u may or may not be able to answer them

1. Has Gatlin trained with Felix and Tarmoh in the past
2. Does Gatlin have a good personal relationship with them both
3. What is the definition of sexist
4. Would Gatlin's remarks have been taken differently if he said it in front of you & them while in the middle of a conversation

I don't want to go to deep with this becuz I don't really care.

But that was absolutely a sexist comment. Whether Allyson Felix or the other chick take offense is another matter...maybe they know him, maybe they know his sense of humor. I don't know. But yes it was a sexist comment. That thought wouldn't cross his mind if it was 2 male athletes (:wrist:)

People are allowed to tell offensive jokes I do it all the time, but lets not pretend that they aren't offensive...thats usually what makes them funny.

Just look at the title of the thread if you want the context of his joke: Justin Gatlin is now a Pimp.

bruh how does this make any sense
If a white dude said "They can settle this with a watermelon seed spitting contest" that would be a racist comment regardless of how the target feels.

If the people being insulted say "its not racist, thats just a good joke lol" people will call them c00ns and Uncle Toms etc...but we acknowledge its racist even if they don't get mad. But we don't say "well if Sambo isn't offended then I guess it isn't racist"...only idiots think that.

not at all

making a statement in public, that should be done in private, is not the same as making a sexist comment

I don't think the medium changes the message. That's my point.

WTF? :what:

This shyt here doesn't even make sense.

Breh, that was a pretty bad analogy. Those 2 situations aren't similar.

The watermelon comment would be racist because its a direct link to an oppressive and discriminatory stereotype of african americans

The definition of sexist is "discrimination on the basis of sex, esp the oppression of women by men." So 1, it would've had to be a race to qualify into a mens event (oppression). 2, the comment would've had to be followed/inferred that the only way that they could possibly qualify was based on their female attributes.

Again the comment was stupid because it was made in public. Because now their female identity is under attack by the public (specifically ppl like the threadstarter) who will now only pay attention to em based on their looks. Its bad publicity for them, and these ppl (like the T/S) are the ones not willing to recognize their achievements. Of course he has to offer an apology to them, because we got muhfukkas who think he's a pimp now......

Thats actually an accurate analogy.

I'm still laughing at your "making a statement in public, that should be done in private, is not the same as making a sexist comment" as if the privacy or publicity of the statement changes the NATURE of the comment itself.

WTF?

That was the biggest trying too hard piece of crock I've read on this board.

How does saying something in private make it not a sexist comment?
