Insanity? Why? Herbert just played his age 27 season and has had 3 trips to the playoffs, same as Peyton in his age 27 season:

Manning: 0-3 record, 47.6 completion percentage, 588 yards, 1TD, 2INTS, 59.1 rating.
Herbert: 0-3 record, 54.7 completion percentage, 674 yards, 2TDs, 4INTS, 64.7 rating.

Both Manning and Herbert at this point in their careers were considered regular season merchants with mental issues that prevented them from performing in the playoffs. Same conversations were happening with Manning that are happening now with Herbert.

You're letting hindsight get the best of you. Manning was not considered one of the greatest QBs to ever live at age 27, he was considered an elite QB who might never be able to become a GOAT because he collapsed in the playoffs. He had just lost to the Jets 0-41 in a wild card disasterclass, and people were shytting on him as a bighead stiff who malfunctions in January as well.
Herbert just finished Year 6.

Manning's Y6 was 2003 when he won his first MVP. He won his first two playoff games in Y6 and got to the AFC Championship.

These are not the same guys, and yes, by Y6, people were already talking about Manning as potentially an All-Timer. We talk about Herbert as potentially elite, not potential All-Timer.

This is not Same Guy.

Did you watch football back then? 🤣

The League is way more pass happy today than it was 22+ years ago. Watching Herbert isn't even close to the same experience of watching Manning.

Herbert has never won his division, Manning was a 2x division champ by this point.

The Big 4...
(I dunno what Burrow is doing in there next to the Big 3 but aight imma fukk with you)

Hurts, Goff, Dak, Love...
:ld:All the bolded guys are questionable. I'm taking Herbert over them all, but I'll give you Love and Dak have an argument. But Goff?? For what? We just saw Hurts play dummy ball all season with the best supporting cast in the NFL and flame out of the wild card round, but at least he has a ring (not a QB stat)...but you cannot be serious taking Jared Goff over Justin Herbert.

Old ass Padford...
Sure. MVP season.

Wanna see how the following guys finish their season, but potentially Purdy, Darnold, Nix, Maye, Caleb...
:camby:Bolded completely invalidates your whole take. I'm sorry, but this is just pure hatred.

Id highlight Nix he'll have a streak of 2 games and then look pedestrian. That Broncos D is saving their season.

I think Darnold deserves some praise. Did well in Minnesota came to new team, tough division got the #1 seed and out up numbers

Your argument rest on All-Time Great Peyton Manning being on the same trajectory as JAG Justin Herbert through their first 5 years, which is ridiculous. You're right that they're not the same guy, no two QBs are, but they were actually pretty similar until Year 6. Highly talented guys who couldn't get over the hump in the playoffs, both had 0 playoff wins and multiple bad performance first round exits. Or are you denying that Peyton Manning was being hit with choke artist allegations as well?

Burrow still the 4th best QB in football. He's lost his potential as anything higher than that until he plays an entire season healthy AND gets to the playoffs.

And yet, even with 3 straight missed playoffs and 2 of those 3 missing 16 combined games with injury, Burrow better than everybody not named Allen, Mahomes, Lamar.

Goff has led a team to the Super Bowl and TWO DIFFERENT teams to the NFC Championship, Goff has a .596 win percentage (10.1 wins Per17), 4x Pro Bowler, and has playoff games that he's been good.

Herbert doesn't have ONE good playoff game.

:scust:I HATE WHEN COLI DUDES DO THIS....

:dead: COMPARING DEFENSE
FROM 1998-2002
TO DEFENSE FROM 2020-2025

ITS CLEAR YOU WERENT
EVEN WATCHING FOOTBALL IN THAT ERA

Ain't nobody who watched the first 6 years of Manning, who sees the first 6 years of Herbert, think they are even remotely comparable players 🤣

How old are you, fam? People were on Manning because he sucked in the playoffs.

NOBODY was saying he was "just a guy", he was always a better regular season QB than Herbert.

:whoa: I've made this same point multiple times in the past, you can't do number to number comparisons, the point of posting that wasn't to do a raw numbers comparison across eras, it's to show the class Herbert is in. Tua and Kyler and Trevor and Darnold and Baker and Dak all play in the same era as Herbert but they're not in these graphics with GOATs.

Yeah, putting Nix on there as better than Herbert is WILD. Darnold is playing well in his lane, but he's not being asked to do a fraction of what Herbert is. I'm happy for guys who do what they're asked to do and need to do to get their teams wins, but when comparing QBs, load matters. That's why Lamar is the best QB in the league. He's asked to do more than any other QB in the league and is still putting up MVPs. Josh is up there too. Herbert has elite QB load (:dame:) and isn't doing as well as those two, but he's doing as well or better than any of these other non-Tier 1 QBs.

...and why are people on Herbert?? :mjtf: This thread quiet AF during the regular season and gets popping in the playoffs.

NOBODY was saying he was "just a guy", he was always a better regular season QB than Herbert.
If Peyton was getting his career started in the First Take social media era then he would absolutely be getting called "just a guy" by Screaming A Smith and Ryan Clark which would get it trending on twitter which would lead to coli threads titled "Peyton Manning is just a guy". And if Justin Herbert was getting his career started 30 years ago he would be given the same space and time to develop before social media dopamine hits completely destroyed our ability to be patient with player development in order to get off nuclear takes.

In his first 84 games [the only way i could divide it] Rivers was

55-25
19,661 yards
136 TDs
63% completion percentage
Playoff record of 0-5

i have no idea what you're laughing at or talking about. Rivers walked into a better team, was the same QB essentially as both, and had a worse playoff QB than both...do you just not know his history or something?
