And JJ, Reek, Davante, Stefon, Jamar would put up Rice esque numbers too thenso the thread immediately got ridiculous. it's a fact that it was harder to throw over the middle those days. Rice's numbers compared to peers is crazy.
Thing with Jefferson is yes he's elite but the numbers.. what do they mean.. Cupp had damn near 2000 yards last year. Hill/Adams/Chase/Diggs are all pretty much unstoppable as well... etc.
at any of them DB's back then trying to check any of the elite WR's now

Why are targets used against receivers who put up numbers, it means he’s getting open
Deion Sanders was weak? Darrell Green? Aeneas Williams? Mike Haynes? Rod Woodson? Dale Carter? Albert Lewis? Eric Wright? Eric Allen? Hanford Dixon? Etc...look at the climate today..post 2011 numbers are so inflated that its a joke..Baker Mayfield came.in and threw for 27 tds as a rookie. Rich Gannon and Steve Young won MVPs with 26 td and 25 td passes. Justin Herbert equaled Montanas career high in td passes(31)as rookie!! Cam Newton who is inconsistent as a passer, came in and threw for 4K as a rookie. You think its a coincidence that all.these passing and receiving records are being broken in the post 2011 NFL?? It was very rare for a rookie QB or WR came in and dominated or performed at an excellent level. Thats why it stood out when Marino and Big Ben had great rookie campaigns and Moss and Boldin tore the league up from the WR position
