With the weapon he has at his disposal in the SF's offense, I think he's worth elite money. Otherwise he's not. When Crabtree went down, Kaepernickel looked a shell of himself. That proves much of Kaepernickel's production is based on the weapons around him. If Luck were on the same SF team, they'd be better off but as it goes, I think Kaepernickel is good enough.

Had a sort of "second year slump" but don't forget, Kaeps the same nikka that even had cacs like Jaws writing about how he could one day be the GOAT qb. Jaworski: Kaepernick 'could be one of greatest quarterbacks ever' I think Kaep still has insane potential.

Matt Ryan's cap number reaches the 17.5 million threshold this year, 19.5 million next year and 20+ million thereafter. The difference in cap number between Kaepernickel and Ryan is minuscule. The question is whether getting another QB to replace Ryan or Kaepernickel a better option than paying the two for their services. I err on the side of paying top QBs for their services and spreading out their contracts while buttressing the defense.

the falcons let guys walk to pay ryan, and their team turned into ass literally overnight. sf has pieces in house, so it isnt nearly as bad as what the falcons did, but it still does hamstring the team

The Falcons were injured last season and their defense wasnt great before they paid Ryan.

My logic is that weapons are more generally replaceable than quarterbacks. The QB is the most important piece of the offence and so it's imperative the Whiners find a QB worth paying. As it stands the Whiners can get to the playoffs with their weapons every year and potentially challenge for more. They have a QB that tends to play well enough to (almost) win crucial games for them. And he could get better.
