Right but if they continue to draft well they should be fine. Winning a Super Bowl is also extremely difficult. The Niners being this good for so long now is pretty rare. Harbahgh not havingnf a ring yet doesn't make him less of a coach or Baalke less of a GM.

Keeping the guys that they have already drafted that have already paid dividends will be harder though. The draft is a crap shoot even the teams that are the best at it. They have shown they can plug another QB in. Plugging key cogs throughout the team will prove more difficult.

Replacing a good QB with a better one rarely happens. Keeping the other guys- you make choices based on position, productivity and age. They'll have to decide probably between Iupati and Crabtree. Who's more replaceable? They already drafted Gore's replacement.

Kaep wasn't better. More dynamic and certainly more potential but not a better QB. Bottom line if they fall off there are no excuses for their FO or Kaep. If it works respect is due.

I'll leave this right here for the haters.
The full Kaepernick contract details | ProFootballTalk

This contract is GREAT for the Niners. This is almost lilke that Ricky Williams Master P Sports Agency Contract. We made out like BANDITS on this deal.

Sounds like they don't really trust him and wanted the chance to walk away if need be. Anyone who was laughing at the impact this could have on the Hawks should stop laughing cause they just set a new precedent.

The West Coast version of the 90's Buffalo Bills :mjlol:
The NFL is like boxing a lil bit. So if a fanbase takes too many consecutive EPIC loses
They kinda just stay down I.E. The Bills, Cowboys, Pacers, Knicks, Cubs
And now the 49ers :ez: Especially after Seattle came thru..
Started from the bottom now :umad:
You know in your HEART that they are the better team.
Have a better defense while your defense is taking hits all over the place
NOW YOU OVERPAY for an overrated Kap? Alex Smith did more last season with less to work with
I'll just keep that between me and you :mjpls:
check your blood pressure.....it's too much sodium in your veins :bryan:

Reading is fundamental. Dont be mad cuz yall GMs are fkn dumb. Baalke gave Kap a pay as you go prove it contract. Left the the team with plenty of room to resign players. No Flacco type fukkery. My QB said help me and my teammates. Thats a fkn leader. #QuestForSix
this right here...this is SF/Silicon Valley...we print money out here, aint no dummies. this Niners regime has been pretty good with the cap & contracts #GGKTA

yes and no, the big differentiator is Russell won a SB, he doesn't have to settle for such a "team friendly" contract

While true, don't bank on them crippling their cap (like many 9ers fans are hoping they will do :lolbron: )
I don't think many of us are hoping for that, they're a smart team too so it's not like we expect them to be dumb. But with russel Sherman and Thomas demanding what they do/will, now that's where they may hit a wall

Should have been an Alpha. He would have been smarter than to fall for this NFL trickery.

Per profootballtalk:

"As expected, there’s plenty of fluff.

Technically, the deal has $61 million guaranteed, even though $6 million of the guaranteed salary could evaporate (more on that later). Either way, only $13.073 million is guaranteed at signing. It comes in the form of a $12.328 million signing bonus, a base salary of $645,000, and a workout bonus of $100,000.

For 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, and part of 2018, the base salaries are guaranteed only for injury. On April 1 of each year, the guarantees convert from injury only to fully guaranteed. That gives the 49ers the ability to decide, in any given year, to move on from Kaepernick. And with the deadline for the conversion of the guarantee coming on April 1, the 49ers can squat on his rights until several weeks after the start of free agency, making it harder for him to get paid elsewhere."

It’s a convoluted way to pump up the base value of the deal artificially, allowing Kaepernick and his agents to claim that the deal is better than it will be, unless he satisfies the requirements to stop the de-escalator this year.

The contract also requires Kaepernick to purchase, with after-tax dollars, a disability policy that pays the 49ers $20 million if he suffers a career-ending injury.

As one source put it, Kaepernick can feel good about the deal because he has a lot more guaranteed money today than he had yesterday. But the same source also added that the 49ers are nevertheless “thrilled” with the contract, which allows them to control Kaepernick’s rights for seven years and to move on after any of the next six seasons, if they ultimately decide that Kaepernick is more like the guy who struggled at times during the 2013 regular season and less like the guy who found the gas pedal in the playoffs.
