Are you telling me you want fewer judges and prosecutors who look like and can relate to the people on trial?
No i want more black judges too,

but I don't see how having more black prosecutors helps black people though. But i'm no legal expert.

How does having more black people trying to prove my guilt help the black community? I see she went after less harsh penalties as DA, but wouldn't a defense attorney helping you avoid penalties altogether be a better option?

At the very least as a prosecutor maybe you could focus on crimes against the black community Like helping the Rosewood survivors in their lawsuit. but trying to twist an argument about locking up fewer black people than most as a pro black stance seems backwards to me. how is "barely putting black people in jail" an endorsement?

I always thought black people should aspire to be defense attorneys rather than prosecutors considering how much the lack of legal representation that black community has contributes to our level of incarceration in this country.
I did robbery prosecutions for about a year as a baby attorney. You can definitely put yourself in the position and advocate for black people because PDs come with very weak evidence expecting you to ask for crazy sentences and whatnot.

Also, don’t forget black people are more likely to be victims of crime so we desperately need prosecutors who see us as actual victims and not accomplices or liars.

Look, these laws are gonna be enforced one way or the other. And prosecutors have little wiggle room outside of declining to prosecute and having the legal and political backing to get away with it without stoking backlash from the Governor or state assembly. Some charges get out right dismissed or defendants get diversion programs or charges get reduced. Even the standards of suspicion change. Something as small as respect is even maintained. all that shyt matters.

You can write the laws or enforce them. Pick one. A good defense only works the closer you are to actual innocence and misses the point altogether. You need fewer good defense lawyers with better laws and fairer prosecutors.
