That bill would have never passed with this attached. The general public also wouldn't hold the Republicans responsible for delaying it they'd just blame the Democrats for the bill not getting voted through.

This is the same way. This isn't a negotiation. One side is literally trying to get the other to do something that will lead to their extinction. You get a hold of power and push this through. Republicans aren't going to negotiate on this at all. They won't budge and their voters and the general public won't hold them accountable for it.
If Republicans agreed to this they would likely never win another presidency. They'd also have a difficult time winning any Senate seat that isn't 60%+ safe. If Democratic voters would vote over 20 days you'd get far more of them voting. That's such a long span they wouldn't even have to stand in line to do it. Even the laziest SOB would vote. After this virus Dems would bus people to go vote over 20 days.
Say what you will about the Republicans but their base they rely on mostly already votes. Democrats only lose now a days in places they either can't win in or when voter turnout is lower.

Nothing will happen from proposing a bill where the majority of the senate if they voted for it would toss them out of power.No need to use this kind of language about a black woman
You aren't going to get rich powerful people to do stuff that's directly against their own self interest. The voters won't hold them accountable either.

actually, you're wrong.... when obama was president and the republicans controlled the house, they passed a repeal of obamacare over 40 times..... they knew harry reid (d), who was the majority leader in the senate would not take up the bill and these bills died in the house....
then when the republicans won back the senate, they passed a repeal of obamacare again.... this time the bill passed in the republican controlled house and republican controlled senate and the repeal was put on obama's desk for signature.... they knew obama wasn't going to sign a repeal of his biggest legislative achievement, he vetoed the repeal like they knew he would...
so what was the purpose in them continuing to try to repeal obamacare when they knew that their efforts would fail...? to signal to the voters, these are the types of things we could get done if were in charge, vote for us.... and it worked.... that's how the republicans went from just controlling the house, then to controlling the senate, and now having a president in office who put two justices on the scotus....
this is exactly the type of thing democrats need to be pushing... kamala not only was right to propose this, she should fight like hell for it....
where you're right at is that republicans won't pick up this legislation and won't pass it... that's not the point... the point is to say to democratic voters, this is what we could get done if you give us the senate... you have to give the voters something to vote for.... that is one thing that today's crop of democrats are terrible at... we need more of this to fire up the base... you don't get the senate back to pass something like this if no one knows you're even thinking like this...
You can't really compare Republican voters to Democrat voters. Republican voters will literally vote for anything their party puts in front of them. Hell they voted for Donald Trump. Democratic voters won't do that. Democratic voters would want this already and the party wouldn't need to tell them to want it. Kinda like how they want gun control and that won't get passed either.
