I'm not a streaming guy but the Tidal backlash over the last year is such a blatant case of racial double standards when people know who "owns" a company. Exclusive Tidal content receives endless hate and anger from people who will "never" use Tidal, even for free. Yet every Apple exclusive is met with excitement. I don't see many people handwriging over Frank Ocean's album being exclusive to Apple for instance.
And speaking of race shyt, I'm not letting Hov off the hook either. After months of (deceptively) labeling Tidal as completely black owned and insinuating "the man" is trying to shut a black man down, Hov is now looking to cash out. Not to mention the artist pay rates are apparently not much higher than Apple/Spotify, or that most of the exclusive content goals haven't been reached. Or the fact that Prince specifically gave Hov access to his catalog because it wasn't a major corporation.
If Prince was alive there's no way he'd sit back and be cool with this. All for Hov and his investors to get a payday. I hope Apple says no.
