I feel like he pandered to critics and it was his most superficial album, lyrically. I hate all the over the top, overproduced production as well. I think there are about 5 10/10 tracks and the rest I could care less about hearing again.

i feel you and I respect it I'm just rocking it as a double album so many styles and flows from the production and guests and some real quotables ....the mc hammer vs jay the bobby brown jaw the Monster song the power vid .....even justin bebeir was on it lol .....I'm just talking as a whole piece of work
shyt wouldn't even clear R U Still down, shyt is a 3.5 album at best, but then again i'm just not a kante fan.

I'd be willing to bet some people would say it would have too much filler but I think making it a double album might bump it up a notch
The question is if you arrange it how you think it should be...does it still play like an album, or a compilation?

I would arrange it like it kinda is a disk with mostly Kanye but the 2nd disk with the features .....but take out the justin bebeir song and put that impossibles song with twista and Keshia cole .....that would be a monster and shoot vids with lots of the songsI dig.

all of them. all songs are classic. no weak points
I can't even take these dudes seriously, it was NOT a great album, it was good at best. Ye is great but I hate when people overrate albums just cuz they were made my certain artists. a couple of Camel stans were even trying to say that MCHG was the best album of 2013

I agree with the overrated sentiments. It was a great album, but people make it out to be the greatest. It doesn't matter if it got a perfect 100 on Metacritic. If we're going by critical acclaim, that makes Stankonia the greatest album since at least 2000. That album is like one of the highest rated albums on the site, if not THE highest.
Kanye's greatest strength is that he's probably the greatest marketing genius in Hip Hop. Dude could put out an album worth of songs like "On Sight" and muscle people into thinking it's "revolutionary, ground breaking, innovative" etc. That's why a lot of his music post Late Registration is pretentious because he markets his albums towards critics and people who base their opinions of his music on critical acclaim. If someone argues that his music is subpar, the counter argument is that they are "listening wrong" or "you need to expand your musical palette" to understand what he's doing.

Yeah.
Probably one of the top ten comebacks in hip hop historywouldve been cool, but we got a GOAT album, most acclaimed album of the last few years, and a BUNCH of free tracks. So its all good.
Side note: There STILL hasnt been an album more acclaimed than that since it dropped
so true. nikka hit us with Power. then hit us with fukkin runaway. The good fridays were dope, and then proceeded to drop a 10/10 album. Execution was on POINTProbably one of the top ten comebacks in hip hop history
Let it be known and for the record that the "overrated" comments merely stem from the fact that Kanye released all of the songs prior to the album. 2 singles, 3 GOOD Friday songs (I personally played out all of them jawns within months) with the rest released in the Runaway film. I know it's hard to believe but it can really fukk up your perception of the album if you listen to songs out of sequence and out of the final product 
If you think the album lacks major musically from any standpoint, you'll have a hard time explaining that to me. It's a 4.5 album easily.
