The NBA players association made their own award show just to praise Allen Iverson and blow James Harden. Almost 30 years ago most rappers got together just to boycott the Grammys and have their own party. It's 2016 and rappers can't come together to do their own thing and celebrate themselves?


The reason why other genres don't bytch about the Grammys is because they don't need the validation. They want it, but don't need it. They do a good job validating themselves with their own shows and awards.

Simple. Artists need validation for their work, work put out for mass consumption. What better place for it than the most prestigious award show?

Rap & hip-hop seek it more than others because somewhere along either way we devalued the award shows that were designed for rap & R&B.

agree, i've also had it in my mind we need a hip hop hall of fame, this shyt is bigger and more serious than 1-2 negroes making it into the rock & roll hall of fame - this shyt aint rock. having a hip hop hall of fame would be the perfect time to have a prestigious hip hop award show attached to it
