What does being an executive producer even mean? Nas daughter was the executive producer for Stillmatic (or maybe it was God’s Son) just so she could always make royalties from it. She was only about 7-8 years old at the time.

An executive producer helps shape the theme of the album. They are directly responsible for gathering certain producers, getting certain companies on board with marketing and promo, deciding which songs have single/video potential, etc.

Future, as an established entity, would more than likely be directly responsible for assisting Kanye is the album’s creation and roll out. Nas more than likely gave up his OWN Exec Producer credit so that Destiny could be credited for Stillmatic. Nas is listed as the executive producer or co-executive producer of most of his own solo albums.

A Kanye album, with Future playing the role of executive producer? I’m all in….however,

DONDA 2, as a title has to go. I can’t imagine Future helping to shape a gospel influenced album. What sound will he go with this time around? A continuation of what he’s done the last 3-4 albums? Given the short turnaround I can’t imagine that he is going to stray to far from what he’s making. Deep down I hope he does switch it up. That’s what made everything from College Dropout till Yeezus great. He departed enough from each previous project that they sounded unique, yet you can tell they were him.

There are so many genres, sub-genres of music to draw from. He hasn’t scratched the surface of what he is capable of from a production standpoint. I do hope it’s different from what we’ve gotten but I’m not counting on it.
