I agree with you that there are plenty of instances where labels will let albums hang and never see the light of day, and the vast majority of power and decision making rests away from artist's hands. Plenty of examples, Atlantic with Lupe, as you'd mentioned - 50, and recently trending on the-coli - Jay Electronica's hang up. But to be honest, whether or not it's because Kanye is an exception, Yeezus will sell based on the strength of the music, not to mention his buzz. Good or bad, press is press, and all eyes have been on Kanye for a long time running. Doesn't take me to say it. June 18th.
