speaking as an athiest, funnily enough...the more ye slanted towards the traditional gospel sound palettes the better the album got

especially the choir...I rewound every hour like 20 times before I moved on to selah



also I garaun DAMN tee this was the inspiration for how water sounds

Respectively, what’s “real gospel music”? isn’t that determined by the listener and quite subjective? This isn’t aimed at the Yolanda Adams crowd. I’ll be completely honest, I hated when they would bring out Yolanda, CeCe or Kirk on black awards shows because their sound was so old.

Alright so off two listens.

the production is nice but he’s not saying anything over it so it really doesn’t matter.

a lot of these songs feel like demos he rushes to finish just to finish the album.

the features did nothing for me and I think he put the whole album in a box by it being “gospel” and having “non secular music.”

Kanye has never been known as a lyricist and has admitted to getting a lot of help but these last 3 albums lyrically have been uninspired, close to garbage
