Can never not think and laugh about the Kenny G/Michael Bolton video everytime his name comes up but dude killed it on this. Kenny G the Gawd is BACK.
Like the album more than I thought it would. Def more than Pablo. Only tracks I keep skipping is the 6-8 stretch. Otherwise enjoying everything else. Really wish there was a full version to Jesus is Lord. Sounds like early Kanye right there. On God reminds me something out of Sonic the Hedgehog tho![]()
I know. I like this live one even more cause of Kenny starting it off and extending his part. Think someone said it best earlier where these tracks may all be better as live versions. Hate how short this one and the final track are on the album. Still fire though.Yo, this song is something else. But its too damn short. Why the fukk is it so short? It just ends abruotly. You mean to tell me they performed an epic 8 minute version with way more instrumentals and the actual song it only like 2 minutes. smh
This is a Gospel album so I expected it to just be Praise songs. Maybe his next album he’ll be more personal about his lifestyle now, but as a Christian this seems like he just wanted to give God the glory and shine and not make it about himself.Listening to this album again...I'm struck by how empty it is. There's little personal shyt here, and instead it seems like some generic "Christian" sayings strung together. Why is God so important to Kanye? How did he come to be saved? How can others be saved? How has Christianity impacted his life and business? What does Kim think of all this - not just in a generic one liner, but in depth?
Some of the production is fine, some of the samples are fine, but this is not a better album than TLOP. It's not eve better than his last album, which wasn't good. Creatively this is a man who has simply reached his end. He's mined and pillaged so many great ideas that he seems unable to find new ones.
Follow God seems like the only moment of truthfulness and and introspection.
Man, he pissed me off wasting the Lift Yourself beatI just thought about this early this morning. I wonder why he didn't reuse the Lift Yourself beat for a song on this albumThat shyt would have been hard!
It's crazy cause the demo for that song initially had drums. It was called Chakras at the time.
not my favorite kanye album but i think it has some moments and good ideas. All that other stuff you're talking about is his personal life though. Funny thing is that he answered most of these questions in the second half of the zane interview.I tried watching the Zane Lowe interview and it's just...bad. Zane always does some homework but...honestly I need to hear a black person interview Kanye. Is the Big Boy interview good? If you're black...you almost certain were either raised in the church or near the church. Maybe you didn't go every Sunday but when grandma had you for the weekend, she took you to her church. Somehow, someway...you were in church. Because I swear to god even brehs who go to church just to hit on chicks can talk about God more believable than Kanye does on this album.
Kanye never had the poetry or prose of Nas, but his music often had similar honest introspection. Perhaps more honest than many people because of how simple and to the point Kanye's lyrics are/were. But here...I just don't hear anything. He says church is antiquated and yea many are...but there are a whoole lot of "modern" churches where people dance, have fun, etc. Did Kanye attend any of them before creating his own church? What's his favorite bible verse or passage? Does he READ the bible? Remember, Kanye has said he doesn't read period. So...does he read the bible?
I'd also ask him if he believes his wife is sinful for posting half naked pics. I'm not religious at all anymore, I got no issue with Kim's attire...I just want to hear Kanye's thoughts on this lmao. Because if this is all truth and not an act...I don't see how their marriage can last.
