I was listening to NPR's Pop Culture Happy Hour Goat pop culture social commentary(they get a lot of people from code switch on there). Anyways they were clowning him saying next he'll be designing "bridges" because he loosely studied Mechanical Engineering the past 2 months. It ignores history and dilutes those who had serious knowledge in a variety of fields.

Thomas Sowell, who is kind of straddling the line with his neo-con nonsense has stated we are in the age of self described intellectuals running amok. People think Richard Dawkins should handle the economy and Ben Bernanke should head Nasa. Being an expert or great in one field isn't "enough" anymore and that's egotism at its finest.

And for the record, Dawkins should stick to evolutionary biology and Bernanke should stick to being a puppet.

Telling kids to believe in themselves is vastly different then telling kids to be their own personal gods That's not even tangible advice. It would have been more respectable to tell kids that they shouldn't rest their self esteem on how others view them.

I am part of this social networking generation, trying to have a conversation with some of these kids is trying (and thats being kind).
