Production is meh which is surprising. Lyrically I haven't been interested in what Kanye has had to say in a while. His model is saying some outlandish shyt so people talk about him and then he raps about people talking about him. It's totally self-referential and boring.

It's crazy because objectively Kanye is THE hip-hop artist of the 00's.
Produced placements for others. Produced entire albums for others. Crafted 4 classics (Dropout, Registration, Graduation, Fantasy), and helped usher in the sound mainstream hip-hop would move towards on a couple of occasions (Blueprint, 808s) and the reality that MBDTF was pushing a decade ago is pretty crazy. There's not a Kanye project that I genuinely enjoyed since Watch The Throne. I'll also go ahead and say that Daytona is Kanye's best effort on production since MBDTF.
He's always been one of the most self-referential rappers ever, but it didn't get that annoying to me until post WTT era.
Only song thats weak is the first song with that suicide nonesense. The rest of the songs are cool

That's what I'm saying. There isn't one song on this new album that tops any of these IMO, and I was not a very big TLOP fan.While TLOP is all over the place, you can still pull multiple songs off of that project that are better than this.
If you pick the 7 best songs on TLOP and compare them to this entire album it's really not even close.
YEEZUS was short album as well, like this one, and looking back there's only 2 records on that project that I didn't like. But since it was only 10 songs that brings the rating down.
This album is only 7 songs so really, you can't have any misses IMO. I'm not saying it's completely trash, I'm just disappointed because off of the release of DAYTONA I was hoping this album would be just as solid and not have any fluff. It's just not as cohesive as I thought it would be for a consolidated project.

I was expecting to be disappointed and was pleasantly surprised. This definitely ranks in the lower half of his catalog but it's better than TLOP and his best work from a lyrical standpoint since MBDTF
Why is TLOP so hated? That shyt third behind LR and CD
