where's 'there' breh?

and you saying some far out shyt that's easily disputed. Album came out Sep 2007. By December 2007, it was in ad campaigns. And you're telling me it wasn't popular? Cmon

Breh, there's a whole 'chart performance' section on wiki that flat out disproves what you're saying. And you're telling me 'you were there'.
again, being used in a fashion campaign isn't the same as the streets loving it like they do now.

It wasn't played on urban radio for a while...and I was living in a major market at the time

OK. finally you're clarifying things. That i can understand. Because I saw cacs gravitate to "Flashing Lights" something serious. In real time. That's why your comments weren't making sense to me initially. In fact, I never hear Flashing Lights in hip hop settings.

also, @bigbadbossup2012. KRS-One has a question for you at 2:40. How are you talking about what's poppin in the street and still being a sales-whore? shyt don't make no sense :dahell:

Flashing Lights is now like quiet-storm friendly.

Back then, NO urban stations were playing it like they might squeeze in now.

and you see that shyt? Kanye KILLED that street shyt.

i rarely hear Flashing Lights to this day. Since when did it kill the streets? :dahell:
why are you so goddamn combative? :what:

What the fukk man?

I'm saying...I hear flashing lights from time to time on local radio LATE at night.

Its one of those joints they squeeze in there.

Its a legit classic...but I remember when it came out, most people were NOT fukking with it.

when you say "most people", you're talking about the Black/Hispanic hip hop audience, right? Be absolutely clear.

I remember that time period. Hip hop was still somewhat the main genre in terms of being popular, and it was a big deal that Kanye wanted to make this extra pop sounding stadium album versus a straight hip hop album. Op is right, but I would say it was more the album as a whole rather than flashing lights. Then 808s took his pop thing to a far left direction. I was one of those people back then. I thought graduation was alright and I completely skipped 808s for a few years before I realized I loved both.

I'm not sure what op's getting at regarding the songs current influence, however he is right that urban was not really fukking with this song like that.

Random but we need a Drumma Boy appreciation thread.
