it's the drums, they're not chopped quite as hard as DOOM does in some of his beats but there's def a DOOM influence if you don't want to call it biting. the sample is reminiscent of DOOM as well

ehh i dunno. but doesnt he admit to biting some dre drums on his 1st album? wouldnt put it above him. is it that big a deal?

def sounded like a doom track. the way the drums hit.
Hmmmm werid cuz those drums are sampled from a old school hip hop track.....can somebody post a mf doom track that similar to we major....I just don't hear the similarities in there production style....cats been saying this since sohh days

I remember at the time many said it was MF DOOM influenced

I still hear it, but that's because I listen to a lot of DOOM. Also, Kanye wasn't producing like that back in the day.

It's also the choice of the sample. MF DOOM has this way of choosing some samples you'd think are too cheesy (and thus shouldn't touch), but making them into goofy but grimy hip hop records.

but i will admit it does sound kinda like a doomstrumental :ehh: sample is looped too clean though :sas1:

This. It has way more to do with the vibe of the entire record and the time in which the record happened. The moment I heard 'we major', within 5 seconds i scrramed "HE BITING DOOM!"

The sample is so post DOOM that I didn't even notice the drum thing till tonight. When you're innately vested in hip hop, X's & O's mean diddly. He bit DOOM. Period.


Also, this is why @SirBiatch is a dope poster. I was DREADING having to address this thread. He came through and did it for me perfectly.

maybe with the drums yeah it sounds doom like circa operation doomsday BUT the music itself is kanye all day. i can see why people think he bit doom
