If you think that's what analytics is, stay dumb. Front offices ain't using PER to make their max contract signings, they are using play type analyses, shooting charts, player tracking, health analytics, etc. You're confusing an advance metric (which is just a new way of crunching old numbers) with what the analytics guys are actually doing. None of those analytics guys are wasting their time on PER, to them its just like ppg or triple-doubles, just something you name drop in an argument as a shortcut with people who don't understand the game anyway.
