so people have a problem with heros physique while tensai, brodus clay, mark henry and bray wyatt run around on raw each week??

give him a singlet if need be and bring him up, dudes gotta be damn near 35

Dude, all of the guys you just named are absolutely huge, to the point where their physique matters much less than them just being big and physically imposing (and the fact that you put Mark Henry up there means that you've probably never watched a strongman competition in your life. Most of those guys look like smaller, tighter versions of Henry).

Chris Hero is a 6'4" 225 lb. skinny-fat dude. And the fact of the matter is this: he got lazy when he was negotiating his WWE deal and gained belly fat that he's yet to burn off. It makes his torso look pear-shaped and terrible. No one's saying that he needs to get super ripped and huge or anything, just that he needs to get back to something like his 2009-2010 shape. The fact that this hasn't happened even though he's been in the NXT system for a year and a half now makes me think that he's not going hard in the gym (even if what Naylor says is technically true). I mean, he's famously hated going to the gym for years (watch his 2011 shoot) and when one of his best friends is calling him out on his physique, there's definitely an issue there.

no they made tensai cover up because his belly was so unappealing, they made husky harris cover up and nows hes fatter than he was before, BUT he has his whole body covered

and for the record i watched the 79 worlds strongest man contest on espn and bill kazmaier was a runner up and didnt look like a big fat black blob like mark henry does

And I've seen guys at WSM comps last year that looked just like smaller, tighter versions of Henry. It's not far off from a strongman physique. And Wyatt's actually slimmer than his fat peak.

None of what you wrote has anything to do with Hero's issue. All of those guys have the advantage of size that allows them to be able to wrestle in singlets and cover up. Because of his body shape, Hero's going to look terrible in a singlet (the singlet he wore in 2009 was AWFUL), not to mention that WWE would never let him wear one. The guys you mentioned really can only do so much about their physiques, while Hero has proven that he can trim up and get into good shape. He isn't CM Punk. If he can't take three months, eat right, and get in the gym to burn off some belly fat, then there's an issue. It's a part of the job to look half decent.

hero looks more intimidating than fukking christian does or perfect jr, if anything the problem is hero looks like a taller bryan danielson/daniel bryan

and nobody seems to mention alberto del rios pear shape and hes the world champ, he literally has the weirdest physique i've ever seen

Now, I hate Christian's physique with a passion, but there's tone there. It looks like he works out regularly. And comparing Curtis Axel's physique to Hero's is ridiculous. Hero has no tone whatsoever and a ring of fat around his midsection. Comparing fukking Chris Hero to Daniel Bryan is actually worse, beyond ridiculous even:

Bryan has some body fat on him, yeah, but he's jacked as hell. You can tell he puts in a lot of gym time and has substantial muscle on him, it's just that he doesn't cut at all. He still looks better than Hero at a similar weight, which shouldn't happen (the 6'4" guy should have his body fat distributed better than the 5'9" guy, unless, of course, he just has more body fat on him). Horrendous comparison, honestly. Bryan looks far more like an athlete than Hero does.

Alberto Del Rio is the same way:

delrio280.jpeg

Some body fat, yeah, but also a lot of muscle. A lot of work and gym time went into that physique, far more than into Hero's. The reason why no one cares about Del Rio being pear shaped while crying about Hero's pear shape is because Del Rio is actually fairly muscled up, unlike Hero. Honestly, like Bryan, it's not even really comparable.

Hero needs to get to a gym, full stop. He'd literally look worse than the entire roster at his size, except for the super heavyweights (don't say CM Punk either. Punk looks a million times better than Hero completely natural. No excuse for Hero looking the way he does). I don't understand why you can't see this.

Plus dude is 6'4. He just have to be in semi-decent shape and WWE will push him off his height alone. You got other indy peers of his under 6'0 tryna do everything to get called up and this guy doesn't wanna work out lol.

Those are matches you have to put in context. Funny that it's RVD/Lynn and Joe/Punk that you guys brought it as they're both huge examples of story/context making something great.

RVD/Lynn blew peoples minds because it was RVD who had spent about a year and a half at this point flying around these big brawling types, finally having someone go spot for spot for him and it was new, it was fresh, and it felt like a turning of the tide. Like, if ANYONE was going to beat RVD, it was this guy who could meet him at every level. And the shyt they were doing, all those stand-offs, were mindblowing at the time. But every indie and big time wrestler on the planet doing it in every match and in increasingly inventive ways over the next 15 years removed the cutting edge appeal so it looks incredibly dated.

Joe/Punk the same. All of Joe's title matches had been sprints. 15-20 mins of him gaining momentum, linking together offense, and steamrolling through opponents. So Punk intentionally drawing the match out put basically the past year on its head. It's something no one else had done. As each minute passes and Joe's frustration builds you're thinking "Oh fukk.....he might be the one to do it". By the time Punk hits that Plunge as time is ticking it's full on :merchant:status. The second one with Joe dealing with a pro-Punk crowd and turning the tables at the end took a new thing and made it even newer.

I can't think of a single 60 minute match aside from Rock-HHH Iron Man that's still as good to watch now as it was the first time I saw it. And that match works because they went FULL fukkery.

i would have to go back and see the exact time of most of my favorite matches.
yet, i would think there would have to be way more 60 minute matches of higher quality than just rock/hhh.
shyt,....angle/brock IM is better just for starters.
also,.....
if you had a problem with the storytelling of joe/punk I.
you will have a problem with workrate/inring storytelling in way more matches.
especially in this gen,..when joe/punk is a highlight of the gen that saved wrasslin.

I had no problem with the story telling in the various Holy Demon Army vs. Mitsuharu Misawa & Kenta Kobashi matches in AJPW. No match has ever had me more absorbed into something than their 6/9/1995 classic.
I had no problem with the story telling in Bret Hart vs. Steve Austin at Wrestlemania 13. The way it managed to make us all turn our backs on Bret Hart was brilliant.
And if you want to count this generation, I had no problem with the story telling in Hiroshi Tanahashi vs. Minoru Suzuki from last year even though mostly everyone will tell you the legwork in that one was distracting.

Don't make silly assumptions based on someone not caring for a certain match that YOU liked. :stopitslime:

Did my yearly watching of that match a couple of weeks ago. Kobashi sacrificing himself still gets to me every damn time :to: And Kawada doing everything but shooting Misawa with a damn bazooka to finally pin him :damn:

That's my King's Road :to:
