To keep it a buck the nikka was a role player for that 2014 FMVP, they just gave it to him because he guarded Bron. Now he earned that second one with Toronto but like you said all they had to do was replace Derozan with him on an already great regular season eastern conference team. I'm a fan of Kawhi's game but he can't be put in convos with peak Steph and KD. Those guys have sustained excellence for multiple seasons, shyt is different, he ain't in those convos. Kawhi don't even have a regular season MVP.

Before kawhi raps won 59 games, after kawhi left the raptors won 53 games and went to the e conference semis

Where we lost game 7 to the cletics in the bubble by a few points, if that ish was at home in toronto

Exactly. Dudes like Kawhi and Jimmy Bulter weren’t supposed to be as good as they became, they were supposed to be role players. Son got traded for George Hill… That says a lot about how far Kawhi has come in the league, & for that I can’t hate on him I only appreciate him.
They got to where they are through hard work. Jokic was a damn 2nd round draft, expected to be a role player and he became 1st ballot hall of famer.

The thread is trying to tell you how Kawhi was supposed to win like 4 championships or something with the teammates he had lol. Kawhi worked his way up from a role player to a superstar. The injuries obviously denied him from multiple great seasons.

To have two championships from injury ridden career is pretty damn remarkable.

He had playoff meltdowns like in 2020, but so did most of the stars at some point of their career.

AFTER YEAR WHILE
RACKING UP SCORING TITLES
AND A LEAGUE MVP?

Always on a stacked team
only won the chip when joining a dynasty and hasn't done anything else really
and Kawhi has been to 5 Conference Finals :yeshrug:

In fairness, as a #1 Kawhi has only played in two conference finals ('17 and '19), and obviously he got hurt in the '17 WCF. He's 1-1...

This would be an argument against him, as Steph is 4-0 in WCF as a #1 ('15, '16, '19, '22); and Durant is 3-3 ('11, '12, '14, '16, '17, '18)...

This highlights how more consistently available Durant and Steph were throughout their primes, relative to Kawhi...

I would still say that you could compare the peak versions of all three, though saying Kawhi was "better" than those two was probably a bridge too far. His peak version is at least close enough or comparable to their peaks, in that it's not way off. And I do think it's fair to say that based upon his peak, we could say injuries probably robbed us from seeing a bit more success for him---->I'm not saying more success would be hella chips...

But he was clearly the best player on the floor in G1 2017 WCF; and he was putting together an elite run in the '21 playoffs before injury. Those two years, if he's able to finish a playoff run, who knows what the results wind up as...

Kawhi is still an all time great player the manner in which he carried that raptors team to a championship is extremely impressive, he has double the number of fmvps as curry and the same as kobe, this is despite with his chronic knee issues, for a three year stretch he was the best defender in the entire league while still putting up impressive numbers offensively, there are a handful of basketball players better on both ends of the floor as prime kawhi leonard was in league history
