I thought there was no way Kawhi would be back...but now that I see him and Pop are meeting before the draft it seems like one of them really wants to be back...either kawhi really wants to be back or the spurs really want him back...
Problem for the rest of the league is as great as Kawhi was defensively he did actually use to have to reserve himself a bit because he was also the guy who got put on point guards at the end of games...so the lillards of the world and the chris pauls of the world and the westbrooks of the world pretty much had free reign to sodomize the spurs for 3 quarters until the end game boss locked them up in the 4th...
But those days are coming to an end or they might already be over
The spurs are going into next season with the youngest player in nba history to make an all defensive team as their starting point guard...Dejounte made it in his second year...his first full season...even Kawhi didn't make it until his third year...so as great as Kawhi is defensively and when he is locked in he is the best defender in all of the nba...the spurs actually have a younger version of him who is already defensively ahead of where Kawhi was at this point in his career
If Kawhi comes back...and it is looking like he will...they got 2 dudes who can absolutely put the clamps on your point guard and your best perimeter scorer...
So now Danny Green...a multi time all defensive team player...is probably the 3rd best defender on the team
This spurs team would be unlike any team Lebron has ever played for...
Imagine Lebron where he don't have to guard the best offensive player...or the second best offensive player...or if Rudy ops out and doesn't come back and they get rid of pau and patty and Danny picks up his option...the third best offensive player

Imagine your top 3 perimeter scorerers going against dejounte danny and kawhi...and lebron fukking james is just roaming around like ed reed cause his defensive responsibility is just your small ball power forward who shoots 30% from 3
and can't dribble and has no post game...
Imagine a team where you don't ever really know where lebron is on defense cause he don't really have to guard anybody and he is just constantly jumping in passing lanes and coming over for weak side help...
And then when lebron is guarding somebody...kawhi is just roaming around...
And then when lebron and kawhi are guarding somebody...dejounte is just roaming around...
I don't see how anybody gets 80 points against that team...and even the warriors are going to have to have klay and steph and durant on their A game...cause if the other two are not hitting shots the 3rd guy is just going to get swarmed by literally 4 guys who have made all defensive teams and all 4 can put you in a strait jacket any given night...
So you better hope that Kawhi doesn't stay...cause Kawhi staying is a gateway to getting lebron...and lebron coming here makes them the defensive version of the warriors...instead of 3 all time great shooters is 4 all nba defenders and one of them is just roaming around guarding nobody...and i haven't even mentioned how statistically LMA has been a top 5 or 6 rim protector since he came to san antonio...but he is also a bytch ass head case so he probably going to demand a trade of bron come here...
Pop carved out the best or second best defense in the nba playing tony parker coming off a damn near career ending injury...40 year old manu...and undrafted and undersized bryn forbes playing major rotation minutes...you CANNOT under any circumstance let Pop replace 2 players at the end of their careers and an undersized two guards with Lebron fukking james...shyt would be
There really needs to be a thread about how while the spurs got kawhi leonard they somehow drafted a younger version of him who is already ahead of where kawhi was defensively in year 2...
I love this team but if I didn't I'd hate this team...even without Lebron if they just bring Kawhi back and nothing else it's going to be
