The skill isn’t the issue. Kyrie obviously could average 10+ assists per game if he wanted to. It’s the mental part.

Also the fact that’s he’s 6’2, 6’3, not 6’6. You can’t play like Kobe as a starting “point guard”
I’m saying that Kobe had the mentality so it’s not on him. Look at Booker right now. Look at Shai. Kobe would shoot a lot but in winning time he made all the right plays and didn’t just play hero ball as much as people believe. He played his entire career in the triangle so all his hockey assists don’t show up but he had much better court vision than Kyrie who often has tunnel vision. Kyrie was just putting that together before he asked to be traded from Brooklyn.

We’re saying the same thing. Kobe, Book, and SGA are all 6’5, 6’6 and all are shooting guards. They can play that way.

Kyrie can’t bc he’s shorter. Him trying to imitate Kobe is gonna require him to work a lil harder. Which results in tunnel vision

In other words, Kyrie not being a playmaker is not bc he doesn’t have the tools to do so. It’s bc he is obsessed with his ‘bag’ and being like Kobe scoring wise. It’s bc he doesn’t want to be a playmaker

So who was responsible for Kai X scoring 11 points in game 2 last year while KD was guarded by the entire Celtics team, Ime Udoka and 2 refs?

this is fair, Kyrie came up short in that series, so did KD with the turnovers, Celtics walked them out the series last year

:childplease:
Kyrie was more efficient than bean himself playing “like bean”.

You would have to know the coaches game plan, the teams philosophy and analyze the personnel to see if it’s designed for Kyrie to have 10+ assist that result in winning outcomes.

Kyrie is one of the best scorers to touch a basketball so that’s what he’s there to do.

I wonder what this thread looks like in the alternate universe where Kyrie's ankle isn't hurt and/or KD's toe isn't on the line.
