My only beef is that I don't think anybody says Derek Jeter is the greatest ever.
I'd rather see him takedown the idea that he's all-time shortstop, for example.
The backlash to his goodbye tour is weird, and probably fueled in large part by envy.

The backlash against Jeter is overwhelmingly due to jealousy. Period. The absurdity of people being upset that a player who is arguably top 3 at his position all time is being slurped in his last season is self-evident.
And I say that as someone who thinks he should've retired last year.

He went overboard with this and it was completely unnecessary but the numbers speak for themselves in that It's still a New York thing. Everyone knows that if Jeter played for Oakland or Tampa or even St. Louis which is a national powerhouse and has won multiple titles recently, Jeter wouldn't be receiving THIS kind of send off. 
He's definitely a hall of fame player but he's nowhere near the best player ever. I have seen people argue that. Much respect to Barry Lamar. Keith went way overboard. Some of Jeter's fans go way overboard. So what.
