Rich Homie Quan Says He Grew Up on OutKast, Not The Notorious B.I.G.

While some may say that there is no excuse for Rich Homie Quan to forget the lyrics to The Notorious B.I.G.’s “Get Money” during a performance of the song at VH1’s Hip Hop Honors, the rapper continues to offer an explanation for the gaffe, following up an Instagram post yesterday with some on-air comments.
Following the backlash to the slip-up, Quan wrote, “Once on stage I had some technical difficulties and must admit I got nervous.I will forever be sorry to New York, my fans, Biggie Small, Lil Kim, and all the Hip Hop community for my performance.” Today, speaking with Ryan Cameron on V103, RHQ is taking things a bit further, saying “Being from Atlanta I grew up on Kilo Ali and Outkast..the only Biggie song I knew was ‘Juicy.'” If that were the case, then Quan is a curious choice to take on the role of Biggie and it bears the question why he accepted the spot in the first place?
The blunder has earned Quan plenty of flack online, with Joey Bada$$ calling him out while The Game and Problem tried to make sense of the mental lapse. “Atlanta is a little closer to New York than Compton and we know that by heart,” Game said. Twitter users were not as kind, developing a #RichHomieKaraoke hashtag in response. Catch those tweets below, with some reactions to Quan’s radio interview included just before.
