Kendrick Lamar and Drake continue to politely battle one another for the No. 2 spot behind Kanye West in the rap industry. AllHipHop points to a preview of Kendrick Lamar's verse for a new BET cypher, which includes some slightly unkind words about the Canadian du jour:
"Yeah, and nothing’s been the same since they dropped 'Control'/ And tucked a sensitive rapper back in his pajama clothes," he raps. "Ha-ha jokes on you, high-five, I’m bulletproof/ Your shyt'll never penetrate/ Pin the tail on the donkey/ Boy you been a fake".
Like everything these days, this all stems from Kendrick Lamar's"Control" verse, on which he name-checks Drake. Drake addressed that verse during his recent interview with Elliott Wilson, explaining: "[Kendrick] is giving people moments... but are you listening to it now, at this point in time? Okay... It was real cool for a couple weeks."
The cypher was taped for the upcoming BET Hip-Hop Awards, which air on October 15.
