For the people that follow sales, how are hip-hop sales compared to other genres?

damn Wiz flopped. and Meek not doing too bad considered the album sucked and the singles never stuck. It took Wale over a year to get to gold so i think Meek will go gold in a year as well

Kendricks numbers are damn impressive. He's still consitently moving units and he hasn't even released the follow up single. The backseat video just dropped. Look at rickety Ross he's dropped what 7or 8 singles with videos already from gfid and his sales are dead and didn't surpass 500k.

Kendrick deserves the lime, doing numbers making better music than anyone else on that chart. Big boi breaking my heart tho, he need to switch up his flow or something. Still one of the greats but he cant seem to find his niche.

I think wiz better smarten up or his next album is gonna flop really hard. Better go back to the streets that made him and get off that money shyt.

A dope thing about Kendrick is that most of the cats fukking with him are fans of dope music. Cats who sell those amounts of records usually attract a good amount of birdbrains as well, who just buy whats poppin. Or because they like the single or something like that.

But from Kendrick at least in my circle, even people who don't necessarily fukk with hiphop that much but the top rated acts of other genres like indie pop and rock (ie hipsters) bought this album of the strength of sites like Pitchfork's best album of the year list.
