It varies…but a contrived rap battle that singularly dominated rap discourse, served as the rollout of two other albums, and has elevated attention to the artist to highest levels imaginable is pretty much better for garnering attention than about 99% of every “traditional rollout”

This forum has been pretty much exclusively a Kendrick fan site all year, and we’re talking about a “rollout” …I’m sure a breakfast club interview would’ve trumped 6 months of being fellated nonstop by every corner of the media as far as attention for project goes

I expected around 400k but figured he would drop a longer album with physicals. But 300k for 12 tracks is solid. 2nd week numbers will be more interesting. Expecting this to have a lot of staying power.

2) who cares if their was prior promo ? I dont understand what would that change? You think him saying on Monday the album coming Friday would change anything ? Spotify, apple music, etc are free or cheap subscriptions, you open the app up and listen to something when you know its out, why would announcing it prior change that ? The people who want to hear the album will, as it takes no effort to open Spotify and hit play. Im trying my best to understand the mind set that some how him saying "hey im dropping the album friday" would change any numbers its currently projecting.
