Breh, kendrick got 2 singles in heavy rotation nation wide plus features like fukkin problems. Album guaranteed to scan a million after the next single and he didn't conform to the popular sound.

fukk an image. You got artists who have been image conscious for YEARS haven't had the success kendrick has had in a few months.

Truthfully speaking, image hurts the music more than it helps. That's how artists end up being extremely popular, but the sales and more importantly the quality of music suffers. They have all these followers on Twitter, Youtube views, magazine covers, and media coverage, but the music is sub-par and the sales fall off.

That being said, Kendrick is cool like he is. He dropped one of the better albums of 2012 and it's successful.
