Kendrick is still making incredible music, he keeps getting better so I hope he doesn't become too big. Look at what happened to drake...radio success and now he s making wack music

but it looks like kendrick wouldn't try to compromise too much, even for mainstream success

There was a great article about it, can't find it now; a journalist basically traveled with Drake and saw everything fall apart.

I think he overthought it. He has the catalog to dominate any live show but for whatever reason I've never heard anyone say he's great live. I'd imagine his off key singing plays a role. He can clearly rap well live and in the studio, but the singing is a studio creation that doesn't translate live.

It'll be interesting to see what Kendrick does. The obvious thing would be to bring out Dre, Snoop, etc. But that's played out. Plus Ice Cube brought out NWA last year at Coachella so I'm guessing Kendrick won't do that.

Maybe he'll bring out Jay-Z or Beyonce? There's a rumor that the album has a big feature on it...maybe it'll be one of them.

I've seen him live and he's definitely one of the more average performers. I'm not gonna say he was bad, but his track selection was terrible.

He came out doing heaps of bangers got the crowd live as hell, then did a whole bunch of singing which noone in the venue wanted to hear. Def wouldn't go again.

it may go number one next week when the album actually drops this week. Also songs in this era are not immediately sent to radio when it drops. Labels only send it to radio after they see it the song can be a potential hit. I.e. Mask Off. Am I correct in this? @Piff Perkins

It just takes a few days for something to be sent to radio. In this case the video came out, song was on itunes a couple hours later, and it was officially sent to radio like two days ago or something.

Future didn't pick Mask Off as a single for that project, iirc it was Draco right? But Mask Off blew up and I guess the label made it a single too.

Nah let kendrick get bigger he gets to eat more. He became a megastar after gkmc and still dropped tpab an anti commercial album that went plat. He has a fanbase for life that will cop his shyt no matter what kinda music he puts out and kendrick lamar will never ever go pop.

So basically kdot had the #1 first song over pop songs and hiphop
But when asked if it will reach Hotline bling levels overall, nikkas run and make excuses not to answer?
