kendrick wasn't dissing dudes. he was telling them to step their music up. i heard asap herb's album last night and i felt as if i was listening to someone from the south or midwest. it was even sadder to see how all the guest appearances from onyx to bone thugs n harmony shytted on him without even trying. they literally owned that dude on his lp. whatever he was trying to do on that record with the southern beats, sounding like he was from houston or atlanta or whatever, it was more like he was doing a parody instead of paying homage. the ny rappers in the past have actually created a culture and style of music that these new nyc rappers could simply eat off of IF they know how to do it right and they simply don't know how to work with it because they suck. :laff: there's no need to rap off of those generic corny trap beats. there's no excuse. don't talk about how the south is shining and etc. if you're going to take from them, at least let everyone know that you're still from NYC and not atlanta where you're doing the accent and literally copying off of them. it's helluva corny.

and where are the lies about what he said about these new rappers too like drake, asap rocky, mac miller, j cole, big sean and etc. these dudes albums are fukking snoozefests. i have yet to hear an album from any of those dudes where they had a song that stood out or was dope. these dudes haven't earned their stripes yet. i hate how these new rappers act as if they should be respected or deserve props for putting out an album when their joints suck. these dudes stay gassed up because they have a buzz off of some mixtapes. aren't you supposed to be proving WHY you got a record deal by putting out a HOT album. j cole's first album was snooze worthy. his second album was an improvement but not by much though. big sean's first album was garbage. mac miller's best song was from his mixtape. same thing with wiz khalifa. drake is extremely overrated garbage. dude hasn't put an album worth the recognition that he's getting. his whole career has been based off of hype. i've heard that dude's two records and his little mixtape... weak sauce. he makes pop music. these new rappers are basically pop rappers.

but if your competition is weak.......how good are you really? the better question is, if the majority of your competition is weak, how easy it is for you to be perceived as an exceptional artist?

It took Kendrick saying it for you to figure this out?

i been saying that these rappers were weak before kendrick lamar even started gaining traction. rap music has been weak for years now. you have these folks taking it for granted that they're putting out good music because their names are buzzing in the street so they're a sure thing when they're NOT.

watch the interview with him on the breakfast club.. dude is kinda a goof, but he explains. its pretty much a concept album based upon him being this lord type figure.. and it was supposed to be a mixtape, but he went with releasing it as an album, instead.

op, if you don't like what's in the mainstream, why don't you listen to underground music? not that hard.

that's true. however, all this is good because it can inspire these guys to compete with each other and put out better music where us rap fans could actually have something for our ears to orgasm too. i actually don't care about these guys wanting to do a battle. i just want folks to put out better music.

i don't listen to mainstream music and sad enough, the underground music is just as corny too because you have folks trying to get their names out there so they're basically doing what the folks in the mainstream are doing to get on. it's corny on all fronts.

i see where you're coming from.

thing with new york is, its more so the consumers now a days. the younger generations are dictating what's hot in the mainstream.. the same generation who grew up on wayne. they don't care about ny sounding rap. its boring to them, its dusty. the souths sound is basically running hip hop right now because the type of beats they use sound good. most of the younger kids dont give a shyt about rhyme schemes, multi's and "music with a message". they don't got the attention spans for that shyt.

there could be a rapper right now that's the Nas of this generation, but he ain't getting n attention.. why? because the younger generation are the ones that speak, and spread the word around and create a buzz..

the older cats are jaded and cynical listening to the same old school stuff, and the younger generation is in tune to what's actually going on in rap RIGHT NOW and they're not interested in NY sounding rap so its whatever to them

"If a tree falls in a forest and no one is around to hear it, does it make a sound?"
