U a damn fool if u think it matters who POTUS is. How has Obama being president affected the way you live your life? really

If democrats had control of congress it could have.....its okay for black folks to give they vote to democrats everytime but we don't stand up and speak on what we want afterwards and just assume we gon get it cuz we wuz voted....them old people go out and vote, write letters, leave angry voicemails lol....and even if its 100 voicemails or letters complaining from old people, these politicians will take that to mean thousands upon thousands of old people mad at em..

I agree for it to really make a impact who president is it really has to line up around the country far as who's in power in each state.....and if black people not voting is a strategy to get politicians to start pandering to us then cool, but otherwise its stupid to tell people don't vote....and no I don't vote everytime.....I last voted for our mayor here and before that Obama...but that wuz me bein lazy or busy...it wuz still stupid.

And I think Lupe accused Obama of bein in concert with murderers and also being partially responsible which you can say is actually true technically....u have to take responsibility for things that may happen directly or indirectly even though you just doing your job in certain proffesions...sumbody has to take the job as president and you'd prefer it be a good person who has to cosign off on bad things sumtimes...versus a bad person who doesn't care about the lives being lost is what id say to Lupe....the spot won't be vacant.

Kendrick can have his stance bcuz a lot of folks do....and he's probaly right....as long as he remembers he said it and don't speak on it in his music get ya money playboi.....a lot of these dudes who ain't street nikkas and can't rhyme about the streets and be taken seriously like to try to get in this lane of "political rapper" and really ain't bout that shyt....is dissapointing....don't be on that bullshyt kendrick:mjpls:

Even if you believe the president is mostly powerless and the two party system is horrible (which it is) you still gotta vote for the better option.

this is still stupid. do you know how many local laws and policies are being voted on at the same time we vote for president? i could rock with him if he said his vote didnt matter for president, but to not vote period is ignorant

got damn cali weedheads say voting doesnt matter, yet EVERY time it comes up, the marijuana legalization bill gets rejected.

:mjpls:

In Outty 5000, Lupe kind of talks about this.

"Best believe our system it sucks,
but a person like me don't believe in the system and such, naw I be rippin it up.
But for every pond there is different ducks.
I believe if you participate at a lower level you could a lot more done,
like working wit the alderman..."

I could always respect his opinion more, because we do have more of an influence on what happens in our own neighborhoods than the national scene.

whut exactly did he say that is incorrect?? the president doesn't have all the power. it's even constitutionally fixed like that, in fact... 2nd, we are indeed puppets.. that's factual too.

his message is essentially, just get in where you fit in, live your life the best that you can and no get distracted by the BS going on in the world.
this pretty much. i dont get why yall so up in arms for?? he's basicly sayin just live your life and get in where you fit in

It's still important to vote. The President does have a very important power which is the power of being Commander-in-Chief. It is always important to know where a candidate stands on war, foreign policy, and the military. Not voting or voting for a candidate who is ill-informed on foreign policy, and will use war as a primary action to solve issues could be disastrous. So the President isn't exactly powerless.

UPDATE: Kendrick Lamar took to Twitter to address comments that he made on why he doesn't vote, upholding his stance and stating that people should cast a ballot for the "right reasons."

And when you do VOTE. Just make sure it's 4 the right reasons. This way you won't point the finger at that black man like y'all did. Again.

Its amazing how hard it is for people to see this. Why would anyone cater to the needs of someone who doesnt vote? You offer nothing yet expect everything?

Im thoroughly convinced that the nikkas that talk the loudest about politics are the ones who least understand it.

The Republicans have spent the last 4 years getting ready for this election and rigging the system to make it harder for young people and minorities to vote.

They haven't been putting all this work in just for the fukk of it.

These CAC's dont want you to vote and too many of us are docile as fukk and bending over to take it.

If nikkas aren't careful we might just slip back into slavery.

U a damn fool if u think it matters who POTUS is. How has Obama being president affected the way you live your life? really

You must of been born after 2008 if you think this.

Anybody who lived through the 2000 election and saw how GW spent up all the money and started endless wars can't possibly think like this.

If John McCain was president instead of Obama we would be fighting a war in Iran right now and probably in Syria too. On top of that Sarah Palin would be 1 heart attack away from being the POTUS.

When you factor in the supreme court justices who serve Fo Life it only gets worse. Next President might get to pick 3 of em an forever change the face of the country: privacy rights, abortion, affirmative action, legalized weed, porn, stop and frisk, all kinds of shyt we havent even thought about yet.

Elections have consequences.

I ask everyone of you this; would you think Malcolm X would of exercised his right to vote? If you listen to his speech "Ballot or the Bullet" in 1964, you know that Kendrick makes a lot of sense. All of you that truly believe that voting system is positioned for us are merely pawns and do not know it.

Kendrick merely admitted that we are pawns in the game (puppets in his words) and it won't matter what we do, because we don't have the power or the control. We only got an illusion that we are in "control".

If people truly listened to what he said, he reasoned, several times in fact, that none of it matters, politics, religion, conspiracies theories (such as did the man walk on the moon) do not matter. It does not bring food on our plates. We are in the direct position to make change in spite of what else is going on in the world and we should not be DISTRACTED by things not affect your daily life or your personal goals. His message was clear, work on doing you and reaching past your potential and fukk everything else.

In the words of Rakim, "Know the ledge".

And to add, a black man's "right" to vote is overrated. We are being pimped by "our" vote and have been since 1964. Those racist CACs careless about our position and our plight, and the black community as a whole, but want OUR vote to get them in. We been hoodwinked, our parents been bamboozled, and our grandparents were lead astray from this con game. Name a time ever our "right" to vote BETTER our conditions within the hoods of our community. Name a president to include THIS one that had US in mind after we flooded the voting booths to exercise this so-called "right".

It's all a game, whether it's one end trying push us to vote or the other end trying to suppress, neither side gives NOT A F*CK. and until you realize that, you are blind sheep. at least kendrick was awake enough to see the BS.

Why do we have to? Isn't it our right to decide we'd rather not support something we believe is complete bullshyt?

to not vote period is ignorant

Why is it ignorant? Ignorance means to not know something. One could argue that the people who think voting really matters would be the ignorant ones, no? Ever think maybe the ones who choose not to vote know a LOT about what's going on and choose not to...therefore being the exact opposite of ignorant?
