I wouldnt really want a joint album between these two. Lu has been my favorite rapper for a few years now. Being from the West, I also love Kendrick. Been a fan of his since just before HiiiPower dropped.

But Lu made a good point that Kendrick is more of an "artist" , if you will, than a lyricist. Lu loves dropping mad entendres and just being that lyrical force. While Kendrick can be lyrical, his form is more unorthodox in delivery and is more "smooth". I hope that made sense.
the way I see it, Kendrick is a more complete mcee that Lupe.
Kendrick has already proven in the past that he can go bar for bar with the best of them but he would be canibus status if he was doing that shyt all the time. Theres gotta be a balance and he does a great job of keeping that balance hes a great lyricist but doesnt get too technical

He can be very lyrical, he can rely on his flow, he can make club songs, storytelling songs, ignorant songs, west coast bangers, etc while Lupe is just a spitter (and hes good at it).

Kendrick just had to find the perfect balance because he has fans who expect him to excell in every aspect of music while lupe fans only except him to deliver lyrically.
When Lupe drops a bad song, his fans are still happy because its lyrical. But when Kendrick drops a lyrical track, his other fans are crying because they want another backseat freestyle,

Now don't get me wrong, I consider Lupe to be untouchable, hes the greatest lyricist ever IMO. And yes Kendrick is definitely an "artist" because he has to give a song for everybody since he has a very diverse fanbase but the kid can spit on a very high level if he wants to.

This isn't true.

Lupe fans/ex-fans bytch about all the bad songs he releases & would always hold him to a higher standard of records he released.

It's because Lupe was such a great songwriter and artist when he came out people have bytched about everything he's released after 2010 because it didn't meet expectations musically and song-wise.

Lupe already had that perfect balance 7-8 years ago but ended up losing it. He definitely never had the machine behind him like Kendrick cuz he pretty much rejected it himself.

I agree for the most part. But Lu does get blasted by his fans when he doesnt deliver the goods. I mean people are saying he stole the "Migos" flow on his latest track. And lets not forget how bad he got clowned for LASERS. Funny thing is, Atlantic were the ones responsible for that popish sound. They basically forced him to go the mainstream route and appeal to a different crowd and because of that he lost a big amount of fans. But for the most part, everything else you said was on point.

:what:

I'm sorry but I just shook my head reading this post. Kendrick isn't a more complete MC than Lupe. I think Kendrick just got on the perfect situation with the right people behind him to showcase his talents on a mainstream level.

Also, Lupe isn't overly lyrical on every song, and the line about Lupe being "just a spitter" is an insult to him. He can make any kind of song that Kendrick can easily... I say this because I've heard them before from Lupe. Kendrick excels with his storytelling more than his lyricism IMO. My most memorable Kendrick songs are him storytelling or him just bringing mad energy on a track. But as far as witty punchlines and bars that make you go :ohhh: he's not even on the same planet as Lupe.

Kendrick can make a club record better, but that's about it IMO
