Jay and Nas are still better than anyone currently reppin the rest that I know of. That being said, I think Kendrick has helped N.Y, probably unconsciously because I'm checking the responses now and it's gonna make me follow some N.Y artists I haven't been aware of or heard much of recently.

OP has confused "NY" with "NY hip hop" because the indian guy at the hot dog stand in Central Park doesn't give two damns about Hip Hop music

I've been saying hip hop is dead since the early 2000s. When lyrics were cast aside for "it sounds dope in my ride" or "I don't care how wack dude is, my hometown is being repped" MCing dominated the charts. I don't care where it's from. That's been its steez. I"m celebrating Kendrick's spit for the simple fact that there's a wealth of battle MCs from all over that the game needs. But you cali niqqas stay on that regional bullshyt going back damn near 20 years when NY niqqas actually ran the city.

Cali has always been about "that sounds dope in my ride" or "that sounds dope at tha function" Kendrick is more of a NY influenced rapper with all tha metaphors etc, but he has a Cali swag/edge to him at tha same time, tha California free thinking/ out tha box/ hippie type culture definitely shows through his music, he appeals to hip hop heads and tha mainstream in that way

NY most popular artist right now French Montana is rappin like a west coast/ south dude....go figure

if this wuz 20 years ago Kendrick would of been labeled a "backpack" rapper on tha west coast along tha lines of underground legends like Hiero, tha Coup, etc

I can't with NY rap right now. I jsut want to see the art go back to waht it was. I always felt the Bay was NYC long lost cousin when it came to the art cuz their MCs were about nothing but spitting. The game needs more Kendricks. I pray hes opened the door.

Niqqa had Kane on twitter saying this was the first time in years he wanted to talk about hip hop.

Kendrick spoke his language....

Tha Bay had 2 sides, tha backpack scene and tha street or "mob music" scene, tha latter wuz a lot more popular (2 $hort, ant banks, rbl posse, spice 1, 4-Tay, richie rich, e-40, etc)

I'M with everything K. Dot said in that verse except for the King of NY comment. I think GKMC was the best album that dropped last year but IMO he's presence isn't that big out here. Swing Pools didn't get much spins out here until he confirmed his Summer Jam appearance, same could be said about bytch Don't Kill My Vibe until Hov jumped on the remix. I only hope that as disrespectful as it is for an out of towner to claim the throne that it elevates NY mc's as a whole, I hope it sparks what evers been missing in this city.

As for K. Dot I hope he knows what he's doing, bc last time we went down this road it didn't end up to well for all parties involved. shyt is like playing with fire IMO.

...and for the record I don't really need a response from every NY rapper in the game :whoa: ya'll nikka's got no claim to the throne either and this isn't the time to try to get your come up either (there's bigger things going on here). I feel like only a legit 2 people (Hov & Nas) have a right to respond. Also he rappers that were named and ones that weren't from outta town (Lupe I'm looking at u :comeon:) need not respond. There's nothing wrong with what he said...he want's to murder you on wax!! If it took for him to mention it out loud for you to either feel offended or feel the same way then

we still have Fab, Nas, Puff, Jay, A$AP, French, Joey and a few other key players. Let's not forget every southern nikka on is a Ciroc Boy, meaning they work for Diddy. Cole and Wale are under Hov's control....so what are you really saying?.
