When we talk about NY we usually talk about the 5 boroughs.
That's why 50 said he was the hardest in NY and the other hard dudes come from Yonkers.

Ruff Ryders, Puff(even claimed Harlem) and Rakim are the only rappers I know who are not from the city.

But I mean, La vs Ny would not be fair, there are no rappers from La.
La county vs Ny city is what I assume people talk about, similar populations etc. But people say West vs Ny to be able to incporate the bay.
LA County is like 8 million or so, not 40 like you said

there's no rappers from LA? :wtf: Ice Cube, School Boy Q, Nipsey Hussle etc.

Fab has two classics. Kdot has one.

Not even counting singles and mixtapes etc. like I said....15 year old nikkas

Fab has ZERO classics. stop fooling your self. must suck to hear the truth about a rapper you've stanned for all of these years.

The suburbs
the only person relevant in the west is kendrick

everything else is relevant in hip hop is divided between the south and new york.

we still have Fab, Nas, Puff, Jay, A$AP, French, Joey and a few other key players. Let's not forget every southern nikka on is a Ciroc Boy, meaning they work for Diddy. Cole and Wale are under Hov's control....so what are you really saying?

We are still the Mecca of this shyt. You still have to come to NY to earn your stripes. You still will not be validated and certified universally until Flex drops bombs on your shyt. NY is a right of passage for every MC no matter where you come from.
bro jus stop it
ur naming fuccin P diddy, just stop it clown

I know that La County is 10 million, that's why I said that it had similar population to Ny.
And I said Cali had 40.

I was also talking about current relevant rappers, since we are talking about today.

So that leaves Schoolboy Q and Kid Ink, Nipsey Hussle can square it out with Red Cafe :childplease:
Interesting thing with Kid Ink, he had 4 features on 6 songs and all 4 from the east coast :snoop:

In any event, of the 4 major regions, right now.. Cali might be last.
K. Dot, Game, Tyga and the rest (rest of TDE, Odd Future and Kid Ink any more?). That's 40 million people and 3 commercially relevant rappers in a major hiphop hub..
Yet you nikkas talk like you're the new south or something.

You did the same shyt with Game and Bishop Lamont, Snoop even came with that Cali Iz Active joint :dead:. (which was classic though).

The crazy shyt about this thread is that I made it to prove the point that GKmC going platinum and being a "classic" means nothing. Just bc shyt sells and has a crazy buzz doesn't mean a damn thing. Fab was the most random person I thought of...but he had a crazy buzz at that time. Hov over shadowed it like he's doing now. But Kdot gotta stand the test of time. He could be another nelly or fab or whoever else went platinum and dropped classics. I think if he's lucky he'll reach X status. Not saying he'll do crack but he'll have a couple bangers then fade away. Making GKMC still classic but less relevant years from now

Don't believe me? Play it's Dark and Hell is hot for some young nikkas today ..teenagers etc. they'll think it's good but will only associate X with bullshyt like Party Up in here and his crack heists

Naming old rappers is kinda bad, since only 2 of them that you mentioned are certified legends. The rest of them are stuck in that 2002 mode and is hard for them to move on. Plus this is the regional-less era where there are no "stripes" to be earned outside of making dope music. Funk Flex best days are far behind him, IMO.

Let's be reality here. Kendrick didn't drop the names OF ANY NY rappers in the "challenge" portion of the song. The NY rappers he DID name were the ones he paid the ultimate respect towards (Jay-Z and Nas) so it's not like this was a great big wake up call for New York if you take out the King Of NY boast. In my opinion the king of NY line was two fold. It was a compliment and a diss. The only two rappers in the past 15 years who have a legitimate claim to the King Of NY crown are the two rappers Kendrick aligned himself with (Esco and Hov) so Kendrick isn't really saying anything "new" in that regards or even "shocking". NY rappers have needed to step up their games for YEARS. Kendrick is essence saying that he's King Of NY because he's carrying on the legacy's of the city's two biggest Hip Hop icons.
Who the fukk is Kendrick or any of you nikkas to say anything about NY stepping our game up coming from the most irrelevant coast of them all. NY produced the best rappers in the last decade, the best & biggest & most influential movements, that's despite falling way the fukk off. The whole game needs to step their game up but nikkas wanna single out NY when in reality it shyts all over the wests output 'in the past 15 years':rudy: These double standards against NY are ridiculous. L.A has only two fukking relevant artists in the last 10 years, & both got there by being more NY rappers than they are LA rappers. Even some of the souths biggest names like wayne & jeezy blew up using a new york style. Another example of the double standards which leaves NY at a disadvantage, the whole world can use our styles we can't use theirs, they can be influenced by us but not vice versa. Just listen to Ruff Ryders-WW3 and compare how jada rapping to the southerners on there, fast forward 5 years and dro rapping like ''only time i lick in the air is new years eve'' :rudy:

:umad: and you speaking as if there is a conspiracy against NY. They have their legends like Jigga, Nas, Rakim, KRS, etc., but there are new legends to be made in this era. Hip Hop has got to move on.

There ain't no conspiracy, its just that Hip Hop moved on beyond that primitive regional bullshyt that got Pac and BIG killed. Hip Hop is globalized now. There will be more skilled rappers and MCs in the future, but that regionalism will not be predominant, especially in NY favor.
