They were very close all the way to 2017/2018 with DAMN. Maybe they had a falling out or family shyt just got in the way after that. Personally I just assume family and business got in the way. Both were running labels, touring, having kids, etc. Throw in covid and it makes sense they haven't connected much lately.

RAP wise I just think Kendrick is on some other shyt when it comes to that buddy buddy shyt. He has his crew of rappers he fukks with as brothers, most of who are west coast dudes. And everyone else is competition. I'd imagine he thought that big 3 shyt was corny as fukk. Also with Punch...dunno if you guys saw the interview he did with Math Hoffa but he said before Control came out he told Kendrick "the game is too friendly right now, and the first person who changes that tone is gonna win." I don't think it's a coincidence that he's done this two times now, first with Control and now with Like That, in response to a perception of nikkas being too friendly. He wants to crush these dudes.
