GTFOH, nas gets major props all the time for being the best on the mic. It's never really surprising to me when someone says either Jay or Nas, and based on what Kendrick has said in previous interviews I'm not surprised he ain't say Nas but I am surprised he ain't say PAC though, this dude a big PAC stan. But either way it's all good, it's his opinion and I ain't gonna argue

You know what I forgot he said that shyt....I came in here on the humble but fuk that....how you gon be a Pac stan and Jay stan and decide Jay is the goat:childplease:....Jay in my top 4 but:childplease:......there's no catalogue more complete,no ammount of songs more classic, nikka put out hits from the grave,is the author behind the most stolen album of all time in AEOM, wrote a classic in 3 days.....showed he could do it all,had a whole region shook, revered all over the world and has statues, gets compared to Jesus by Nas,Martin Luther King by Lupe, called the goat by many....there will never be another Pac....Pac wuz out chea, the Marvin Gaye,Bob Marley of rap....respected by great minds and street nikkas alike...sum shyt money just can't buy:pachaha:....the nerve of this nikka Kendrick,u lookin for a verse nikka? You had it to easy in this game I can see....u need to get spat on by the media,u need these streets tryna take ya valuables and ya breath away,u must not be outchea Kendrick....I had my suspicions but that's the only conclusion to a west coast nikka not havin Pac as the goat....but I heard you a good kid though:mjpls:,hopefully u stay out these blocks.

U forget Jay Z keeps Pac living

He's the leader of the Illuminati while Pac is the every living hero and leader of the Killuminati movement that will stop the evil forces of the Roc Nation:youngsabo:

On a serious note, I think people really like Pac for his character and his subject matter, I wont deny that ppl worship that guy but imo he didnt have the technical prowess of a Jay Z or Nas:yeshrug:

Jay is the second GOAT after Pac.

Shallow cause I like Jay :childplease: Dudes don't even listen to music anymore just judge him based on image and extra shyt.

Throw on Reasonable Doubt, In My Lifetime Vol.1, Blueprint 1, Watch The Throne, Black Album, American Gangster.

Your gonna tell me every track on every one of those albums is meaningless garbage? Stop it.

I get it though Jay has to rhyme every single word and then he's a good rapper right? Jay raps about what he's about, success and the struggles that come with it. Does he make the type of songs that have existed in hip-hop before he came on the scene, yeah but why wouldn't he when that's the world he lives in.

Technical prowess I won't say its irrelevant but Pac ain't a bum lyrically....Pacs influenced by Chuck D,Cube,Face..we know there aim ain't to wow you lyrically but they want to wow you with what's bein said and make you feel it....I can knock Nas and Jay for lacking that completely...I say catalogue says it all,who got the most classic albums, who got the most classic songs....Pacs music connects with fans like no other..

nikkas with different influences from different regions aim to do different things.:manny:...every emcee has weakness, complex lyricism ain't the alpha/omega of hiphop,so who can say which weakness is more important than the next....classic songs don't lie,a classic song is a classic song that anybody from any region will feel.

...who got more o those than Pac:ohhh:

This is the most subjective kind of debate you can have. First and foremost, everyone has different criteria. For example, Kendrick thinks "stats" are important, and he mentions specifically longevity, money, and sales as key "stats" to determining who is the greatest rapper of all time. In my opinion, outside of longevity, maybe, I don't see how any of that is relevant to rapping and being a great rapper. I think any debate about who is the greatest rapper of all time has to mostly be about the quality of the music. Kendrick is entitled to his opinion, like everyone else, but we all should remember this shyt is subjective as fukk.

This makes no sense, first you say that the discussion is subjective as fck, but then you think the discussion should revolve around the most subjective aspect of the discussion. "The quality of music". The stats are the more objective criteria that a solid discussion can be had on this subject. Though it is not void of bias it is the area with which we can have the least bias.

@StillNotSoft Thats what I'm talking about in my first post in here. I could easily see someone saying Cube, Pac, Ghost, Scarface, Common, Nas etc etc are better than Jay and are more entitled to being the GOAT, but when you stack them up Jay always seems to have the career that seems the most lucrative for an aspiring rapper. Everyone always says they are real like Pac, but I never heard someone say they wanted to die like him or have the same career as him

There's no way to get around the subjective nature of the debate. In fact, any attempt to quantify the debate is weird and puzzling. In my opinion, it's impossible to crown the GOAT rapper. You cannot objectively arrive at a determination of who is the GOAT rapper. It's almost a fruitless task. As much as some may want to view rap through some business/commercial lens, we have to keep in mind that it's art. And art is subjective as fukk. Some artists are more popular than others, but that doesn't necessarily mean their art is better. The way I see it: when people argue that someone is the greatest rapper of all time, they usually are just arguing that they enjoy one rapper's music over all others.
