Streaming numbers aren’t all over the place. You sound like you’re kind of ignorant on the subject but that’s no issue we touched on it a few times in this thread

i'm not "ignorant" on the issue at all. if Apple wants to put an artist on a bunch of playlists... often times multiple songs off the same album on various playlists on the front page of the app that's gonna lead to more streams for that album overall because all streams "count" ..

The stream platforms have a lot to do with what gets repeat views.

How many albums do that? Albums with legs do that.

Doja cat album was top 20 almost a year. Certified lover boy has been top 15 and 20 for a year. SZA album did that. If you actually kept up with it you’ll know. Future album looks like it’ll be there too. It just recently dropped out of the top 10.

This is ludicrous. An album that lasts in the top 50 as long as Mr Morale clearly had legs. I’m not going to say an album has to be one of the best selling/performing albums in recent years (CLB, DAMN, Astroworld, etc) to have good legs and if it doesn’t, it doesn’t have legs. That’s dumb.

The legs weren’t great IMO and it performed disappointingly to what I assumed it would do. I figured it would be selling like Future’s album has been. Still it had good legs and remains to sell well.

Album has legs if it stays in the top 50? This isn’t 1990. MM&BS has been barely cracking 13,000 for the past month which means the same devoted fans have been listening.

Then YOU say the legs weren’t great and disappointed?!

MM&BS went platinum which is a success! That’s not disappointing!

It doesn’t have legs because compared to other albums it dropped out the top 50! Do you not know what an album having legs mean? Future album looks to have legs MM&BS not so much

This isn’t ludicrous and if you’ve been keeping up with the times you will know.

It dropped out of the top ten in August. Roughly 9-10 weeks ago.

Album sounds way better in concert.

Just sucks not knowing all the words to his new shyt
Agreed!

Went to the concert and knew the words to his old stuff. His new songs had a nice vibe but couldn’t sing a long at all.

Bro I know how it works. So how is this just throwing up numbers?

Most of the songs that are on the front page are already hit records or new releases. Again how is this just throwing up numbers?

This is just marketing 101. Same as when certain songs got played 5 times an hour on radio.

Huge Kendrick fan.
I actually think that mf is a true genius.
But that album was junk.
I dunno wtf he was thinking.
You can't tell me anyone is really still diggin that album.
I think TPAB was his peak of his powers and he's not gonna reach that level again.
I hope he keeps trying and proves me wrong.

Thats not true.. they automatically add multiple tracks off new albums to top Playlists.. if it's someone like Drake and Cardi B or Doja Cat they are gonna throw their new tracks all over the rap playlists and then also the pop playlists so everyone is exposed to the music and everyone is hearing it whether they sought out those artists at all... it's irrelevant

The way music numbers used to be counted was less manipulation. SOUNDSCAN just simply counted how many albums were sold period.. nothing was forced

Less manipulation? Majors paid for them to get spins the same way majors pay to have their artist content at the forefront. Again this is marketing 101.

Most albums were counted by the ones that were shipped not necessarily sold also while label also used to buy their artists records. Now a days the simply have them out on playlist and streaming farms. The game hasn’t changed it’s just played differently
