Kendrick's replay value is a major criticism of his music

if you take the top 3 of the new gen, i'd say all 3 have that problem in their own way.

Drake.

So Far Gone is a classic and Take Care is a great fall album but i listen to them certain at times of the year.
i rarely ever listen to a full project from him...i'm more of a playlist guy when it comes to Drakes music.

Cole.
his music has little to no replay value....at all

Kendrick.

he makes the best all round projects out of the three so its understandable if you leave gaps when it comes to listening to them.
what i will say is that i've played TPAB way more than i played GKMC though....S80 still my favorite.

This thread makes no sense. How does dense music not have replay value? If you don't like Kendrick or anyone else that's cool...but jeez some of the shyt you guys try to start is laughable.

TPAB is a very dense album the rewards multiple listens. Like any record with great instrumentation you find yourself gravitating to multiple parts of it, finding new things, etc. Really reminds me of my favorite jazz albums in that sense. And rap wise he's on point as usual. There are multiple lines or parts that make me go "oh shyt" weeks or months later. Best example being on Complexion:

Dark as the midnight hour, I'm bright as the mornin' sun
Brown skinned, but your blue eyes tell me your mama can't run

Somehow I missed that on my first few listens. When I finally "heard" that last line I had to rewind that shyt just to make sure I wasn't dreaming.

GKMC has plenty of replay value and isn't nearly as dense as TPAB - it's just a concept album with some bangers and dope tracks. I skip some of the skits today at times but usually I play it straight thru or play my favorite tracks like Sherane or Money Trees.

So because YOU don't agree with him...he's automatically lying?

fukking hate you new nikkas logic...swear to God.

Anyways I can say that about his last project (although "These Walls", "Momma", and "You Ain't Gotta Lie" at least get constant revisits)

I havent really CARED to go back to GKMC in a while but I know it got moderate spins from me when it first came out cuz nikkas was gassin to the point i aint even wanna hear it when everyone was playing it
got damn relax :heh:

when people realize GKMC is trash (and was always trash from the get-go)..... :banderas: Although by then Duckie would have made all his money off the desperately naive.

Only song I bumped repeatedly on GKMC was "The Recipe" with Dr. Dre

They should have shot a video for it too

Density has nothing to do with replay value

Kendrick peaked musically with The Recipe

I've told people multiple times that "The Recipe" is one of Kendrick Lamar's best songs (if not his best song) and gotten laughed at a couple times here. Since Recipe it's been downhill with silly, fluffy disposable faux deep shyt, Nicki Minaj alien voices, lackluster beats and Em/Lupe woat rambling

Anyway, time will tell. There's only so long faux deep can pretend :troll:

Actually it does in many cases. Albums, films, books, etc with depth and multiple levels allow you to unravel them over a long period of time.

depth is not density. Unless that's what you were trying to say when you said 'density'.

There are a lot of tense songs/books/films that are instantly forgettable.
