Several sources around the league insist the Nuggets' hand was forced with regard to Faried. After the signing of Hickson to a three-year, approximately $16 million contract soon after Connelly's arrival, the sense was the bouncy big man was insurance against Faried's departure in free agency in 2014. Faried was a fan favorite in Denver, but multiple sources with knowledge of the Nuggets' thinking maintain the team "isn't crazy about him," particularly Shaw. But with Faried's boffo showing last summer with Team USA and a loyal following in Denver, the media-conscious Nuggets caved, adding yet another imperfect 4-man to their lot.

Brian Shaw is like a square peg in a round hole. Under Karl their whole system was running and chucking, layups and dunks. Averaging like 110 pts a game regular season, but getting swept 1st round. Some Don Nelson shyt . But it was fun as hell to watch.

Half court sets win championships, but let's be real, Denver is more built for entertaining regular seasons. I can't believe I'm saying this but wouldn't a team like this work for... Mike Dantoni?. shyt he had success with Gallo, Wilson chandler and mozgov. Got a pg in Lawson to run pick and rolls with Faried or McGee. Plus the high altitude tailor made for running and gunning. Just saying it could actually work

Truthfully, Faried is a bit overrated, his defense is shyt in general and while he plays with energy he's not much of an interior defender.

Agreed I thought he was gonna grow much more as a player by now but he's really just a energy off the bench guy on a good team
