Ya'll have this stupid simplistic naive view of Africa. For this deal to be made the offer will have to be made to hundreds of private land owners, not the government. Most of this land has been passed on from generation to generation among the wealthy descendants of chieftain families. All the tonnes of lawyers and land lease litigation it would take 30 years to buy a quarter of the city. All the government can sell that is city-wide is privatization of utilities like the power grid & water.
This story would be breaking news in my country, all papers would be on this for months. Not a single serious media outlet has this nonsense, NONE.

The Kenyan government has however rejected the proposal on arrival terming the deal as frivolous since Nairobi is the capital city of the country hence cannot be sold out at all costs.

Nairobi isn't huge but it has a large population and he wanted to build some robotics factories and probably source cheap labor. But the clown really thinks he can lease a capital city of a fukking country for 5 years. The levels of disrespect are phenomenal

That was the second large loan China had turned down by Kenya and they are also currently mad we don't want to import their fish. We have fukking fish of our own. Their trash fish was hurting local business so import was stopped and they threatened to back out of current developments

Nairobi is huge bro. Compare it with Chicago which is 234 square miles, Philadelphia in size is 141 square miles while Nairobi is 268 square miles

china didn't "loan" them money. They paid for future natural resources in advance. It can only be paid with natural resources that are already readily available.
