I was going to ignore this thread. As soon as I read the OP,I knew exactly where he was coming from-ignorance,arrogance and conceit that is the Somali persona on cyberspace and real life. Unfortunately many of you are similarly uninformed which is why I'm here-not to enter internet intifadas with idle butthurt Maliboys.
Firstly Kenya wasn't acting under any Western 'instructions' to invade Somalia. This is why the KDF went in:
A transAfrican landbridge is underway with Chinese funding and technical assistance;a rail/highway/pipeline slated to end up in Douala,Cameroon on the Atlantic.
Needless to say the Cacs aren't overjoyed.
They're completely out of the loop. None of them have a piece in financing or engineering this 25 bn $ project.
When complete it'll change shipping worldwide. Delivery times will be significantly shorter saving everyone, most importantly the final consumer good change.
Someone said the KDF is scared of Al Shabab;which is the usual Somali male habit of arse overloading mouth. Fyi,in the early 60s Somalis decided their Kenyan province, the North Eastern must join the neighbouring Somali republic.
Kenyatta said,"feel free to move." Demented Kushytes insisted the government cedes the entire province! That was the start of what came to be known as the Shifta war.
The KAF was tiny, the army had no aircav, the Kenyan Somalis 90% of whom supported secession had massive support from their kin and the 120,000 km2 battle ground were semi desert, savanna and true desert-
and yet they lost! In 68 Shermake signed a peace deal in Tanzania
.
When the incursion kicked off 'experts' said the West bis behind the KDF. The truth is they were hostile to the idea the KDF wanted to effect ever since the fall of Somalia in 91. There are still a number of nasty writeups on the net.
As an al-Shabab spokesman, Ali Mohamud Rage, told the BBC, while vowing retaliatory attacks on Nairobi: “Kenya doesn’t know war. We know war. We have fought against governments older and stronger than Kenya and we have defeated them.”

J Peter Pham of the Atlantic Council think tank stated that the operation appears to be based “merely on an emotional reaction,” and that despite recently waning popular support for the Islamists, this operation allows them “to once again rally Somalis around them under the banner of nationalism.”
Considering the small size, poor condition and inexperience of Kenya’s fighter force, it’s perhaps surprising that the F-5s have been so busy over Somalia. But there are signs that the high operational tempo is taking a toll. Two F-5s reportedly
collided and crashed near Kismayo last week. And an F-5 mistakenly bombed Somali refugees at a camp also near Kismayo,
reportedly killing five civilians.

So when the KDF captured the Al Shabab base of Kismayu in September 2012 in a combined night airdrop and amphibious operation, the only one in Africa since Tunisia 1943,many Cacs were unhappy. In small towns like Hosingow,Afmadow and Miido hundreds of AS died
. Its why they decided not to show enemy dead. I'm reliably informed total AS KIA in the KDF zone are at least 1500 for less than 20 KDF.
If Kenya says the water is ours, there's nothing these Skinnies can do-apart from whining and barking in places like this.
