Even though he didn't catch every "oops", somebody with as much television production experience as Kevin Dunn has can always be a valuable asset, especially for a new company where their television presentation is one of their main shortcomings.

Freddie Prince Jr. Audio: “You could pitch for like 20 minutes and Kevin Dunn would be like ‘Well I don’t think she’s pretty. . . our champ has to be pretty’ then all of a sudden 6 weeks of story would just be gone.
• He hated accents, so he would always push back against guys like Sheamus and Shinsuke. He tried burying Becky too.
• He was the one behind the JR getting bullied segments.
• He was the one who was really behind banning the word 'wrestling'
• He was supposedly responsible for a lot of NXT talents' pushes getting squashed because he beefed with Haitch.

I dont doubt any of the above except the bolded, that just sounds like a Vince mandate to me.
